I just can't get over this video. What do you think, Negligence or not?

I saw a video clip of this on the TV morning news. Oh my gosh, I can't imagine how the mother must have felt at that moment. From the clip I saw it looked like an awful accident, the pram rolled slowy towards the track and tipped over the edge before the mum could grab it and all she could do was stand and watch as the train went over her baby
It is amazing that the baby survived and with only a 'small bump on the head'. I still can't imagine what that must feel like to see your baby being run over by a train, how hoorible, despite the baby being fine, I am sure it will cause the mother some nightmares.

Negligence? Hmm I think we all do things we regret and that mum will regret not putting the breaks on the pram for the rest of her life but suggesting negligence IMHO is going just a bit too far. We all make mistakes!

Don't think I would call it negligence just a horrible accident. I've watched it horrified. That poor woman, she will be haunted for ever. Thank  God the baby survived, nothing short of a miracle.

It's so frightening.  You can feel the mum's anguish from the clip.  It's amazing that the baby survived with only a bumped head.

Not only will the mum need time to get over it, but I'm sure the train driver will be in shock as well.

I just can't bring myself to watch the clip I can imagine it is very scary and I am so glad that the poor baby survived with only minor injuries, but still I just cant bring myself to watch it.

yes!

I have just watched the clip and no I would say it was a thing anyone could have done, not negligence at all, maybe a bit silly of Mum but an accident she will never repeat! Thank goodness the outcome was so minor, it could have been so very very different.
Unfortunatly had it been a nanny then it could be seen by some to be negligent...I susspect had it been my child in someone elses care then at the forefront of my mind I would have been concidering the episode as lack of attention , but we all think it would not happen to us and we would be more carefull...but would we? How many could truly say they had not had a lucky escape with children or dogs at some piont? not through negligence but maybe through a loss of concentration. "There but for the grace of God" Poor poor Mother I hope she can forgive herself as it was not her lack of care but a laps in concentration.

If the nursery nurse or nanny were humans then yes, it would still be a mistake. People shouldn't be blamed for being human and imperfect.

Totally a mistake and no, why would a nanny, the mother or anyone get called for such a thing.  Haven't we all slightly moved forwards in a car for a split second or done something daft at some point?

Can't believe the disgusting racist comments that are on the clip though.

A simple, tragic, accident.  No negligence whatsoever.
This was all over the news here in Australia.  In Melbourne there had been extremely high winds most of the week, which was what the press had been blaming the accident on... hands off the buggy for less than a second and whoosh, just terrible terrible timing.
The poor Mum must have been beside herself.  Thank goodness the baby has escaped relatively unscathed.

Definitely an accident.  Very lucky outcome and the mum will thank her lucky stars for the rest of her life. 

About 6 years ago, a baby buggy rolled into the road, a little ahead of me, while the mum was chatting to someone on the pavement.  Myself, and my passenger, couldn't believe what we saw.  I slowed down and stopped a way from the buggy, which had come to a standstill on my side of road.  We waited for what seemed ages (probably 20 secs), no car behind me.  Then the mother looked around for her baby, looked shocked when she couldn't find it.  Then glanced in the road and saw us waiting patiently for her to notice her baby was just in front of us!  I hope that taught her to be more careful.  We didn't speak to the woman, just glared at her when we drove slowly off.  Now that incident I would have classed as negligent.

That poor lady i cannot imagine how she must have felt...my heart sank when i saw it.

No blame to the lady...just so sorry for her to have that terrible accident happen.

No way is it negligence. Silly maybe but nobody is perfect and i'm sure at some point in our lives we have all made mistakes that could have turned out far worse than the actual outcome.
Thankfully the baby only suffered minor scratches and mum will no doubt have learnt a valuable lesson - use the brakes on the buggy!!!!
