I have just booked my pomchi in for a spay next week now I am having second thoughts. She is not good witrh housetraining although I firmly believe this is a behaviour issue not medical, she lives with an castrated male gsd who when she is in season gets quite interested in her and I do have to watch him even more than usual in case he tries anything that could hurt her She also has a habit of humping him (stop laughing) usually his head when laying down and this is getting more frequent as is trying to hump us on occasion. I know this is again mainly a behaviour and may not change after spaying. Reason for spaying is she is deffo a pet and i dont want to risk any accidents , and wonder if having both neutered will be better for both. Other benefit is no pyro or uterine cancer. Previous bitches I have always spayed without a second thought but mainly I think because of risk of increase the problems with weeing I am having my doubts
any views please  

It's kind of six of one or half a dozen or another -spaying CAN cause incontinence problems, but being in season also makes a lot of bitches wee indoors. Humping spaying won't help, my biggest humper is a bitch who has been spayed for almost 7 years now, she still does it to her brother.

How old is your girl?   I don't know if you've read my post on a Toy Poodle girl that I had spayed many years ago.     Didn't stop her humping.   I do think it gets to be a habit.   I used to have a snake draught excluder called Horace (yes I know, sad)

Cindy would drag him away from the door, bunch him in half under her, until he hit "the spot" and used to hump him half to hell and back.

The thing is, she used to be quite rough with Horace, and he obviously fell during her manic humping.  Now, that really peed her off, and she would grab him by the neck and "kill" him!!! 

your going to get a lot of mixed views on this one but i have always spayed my bitches and never had a problem, thats not to say there are no risks from having it done but then again there are risks with all surgery.
this is a very personal decision and there will always be someone who has had a bad experience but i have never met one in my large circle of friends with dogs.
if you feel you don't want to cope with your bitch coming into season and you male dog gets wound up when she is, then for me i would spay her but as i said it's your choice.

Love the horace bit. Yes I know the humping is unlikely to change with her as you say its kinda a habit , More hoping he might not do it if she doesn't have seasons  as its only then he tries anything. Obviously I stop him very quickly and get them focused on other actvities but it is quite funny as he positions himself over a chi but about 2ft too highand humps away !
My biggest concern is the weeing I wondered how many people with toy breeds have found that they have incontinence problems after as I gather it is more likely with toys. Oh yes she is 2 in may and now has had 2 seasons

My spayed GR nearly 11 yrs still does a bit of humpty bump when the mood takes her, she's not so active in the hip region but still has a sparkle in her eye trouble is my two 18 month non-spayed Shelties are not sure what to make of this dirty ole bat

I'm laughing because I have a 3lbs 3oz Chihuahua Long Coat boy.  He has only been used at stud once, and quite liked it!

I have an 11yr old Bearded Collie bitch - spayed many moons ago.   He creeps round her while she is laid down enjoying her bone, cleans her eyes and generally acts like a bit of a smoothie.  She stands up, and he ravishes her hock!  Bless!

Yeah!   Know the feeling myself!  At my age I shouldn't expect fireworks.  And I don't!

But I wouldn't mind the odd sparkler now and again!     

one of my bitches was spayed at a year old. (i wouldnt do it at that age now) she is now 13 and has been incontinent since she was spayed sometimes shes really bad. oh yes she humps lots too!
i had a jack russell in the past which became incontinent with spaying aswell.
i suppose it varies from dog to dog. i dont want to have spayed bitches again but that is for other reasons aswell.
