I tired looking on google just to satisfy my own curiosity but couldnt find anything giving a proper answer - Whats the reasons/genetics behind the stripy markings on young Weim puppies? Is it to do with a particular origin of the breed? Are there any other breeds where this occurs?

I cant answer this question however my 3 year old weim has stripes still visible on his tail..  is this unusual?

having lived with a couple we have put it down as their kinship showing to bouncing Tiger from winnie the pooh:)
