We`d just moved here to the countryside & 1 day heard terrible cries coming from a field to the side of us. Went to see what was happening &found 2 pups. Sorted them out with some farmers then went back to look for the other cries & there was another little pup. She some how followed me home ;( and we called her Toffee. She was a good little pup....at first!!! :-) In the January my Bonnie (Lab) finally arrived & the 2 of them were little devils :-) They lived together as best friends always, only ever having 1 little scrap when they were about 10mths old.
Toffee would swipe anything left around & run off with it & leave it in the fields, wouldn`t come back, chewed, you name it she did it, along with Bonnie, her partner in crime! But she settled down & grew up (sort of). She was outnumbered by the Labs but none of them ever messed with "Aunty Toffee". She was so full of character & her temperament was superb, everyone loved her :-)

What can I say about Sweepy......she was from my first litter out of Bonnie. She was a show off, loved the ring, thought she was centre of everybodies world & everyone thought she was as gorgeous as she did herself  D) We did so much traveling together, there were a few times when we snuggled up to each other, kept each other warm when staying in camping sites! She was as good as gold even when she was young. The junior handlers loved showing her, she was so easy & loved being in the ring :-) She did so well & became a champion & won so many things

These 3 dogs taught me so so much. They changed the course of my life. Without them I wouldn`t know anything about showing, breeding (not that I know so much now) or have met so many different people. I wouldn`t have my boarding kennels & I believe I`d have been a lesser person without everything they`ve taught me. It`s the end of an era for me without them now but it was them that opened up the life I have now.

They were wonderful & they enriched my life. I miss them but they`ve left me many, many happy & funny memories that will always stay with me.

A lovely tribute to them Christine - unconditional love all round.

We too owe them a debt of gratitude - a lot of us would not have known you were it not for Toffee and Sweep through Champdogs.

May your memories comfort you.  {{hugs}}

What a terribly sad time for you, Christine; I'm so sorry. In time the pain will ease and you'll look back and smile at the happy memories of those lucky, loved dogs.

Sleep well, Toffee and Sweep.

A letter from your pet in heaven
Author Unknown

To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you.

It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."

God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night
the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there were some rain.

I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now,
than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody
who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...
"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along
I made somebody smile.

God says: "If you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street
with me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind."

"And when it's time for you to go...
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
you're coming here to me."
I've learned...that life is like a roll of toilet paper.
The closer it gets to the end, the faster

Thank you everyone. They`ve left me with a very big gap but I`ve managed to laugh thru the tears this afternoon at some of the things they got up to.....

I`d love to go back & do it all over again with them, they knew how to keep me on my toes, always up to mischief you needed eyes in the back of your head with them. They were so lively. It really is bitter/sweet isn`t it..........happiness/sadness.

PS I made a big mistake, Toffee was born in 1994 NOT 1997, that was Sweep but it say it`s too late to change/edit it now :-(

Maybe admin could change it for me if they read this please??
