I am absolutely horrified!!

I found 2 lumps of plastic in my puppy food last night. Not just in the bag but actually in the kibbles themselves. Luckily for me I am only just weaning my puppies so I found the plastic as I was mushing the kibble with hot water, if I hadn't been mushing it, I wouldn't have found them as they were in the middle of the biscuits.

They are quite small and my pups are large breed but they would certainly be large enough to cause damage to a toy breed pup. It's not even worth thinking about.

I will be writing a strongly worded letter to the company today and providing them with said plastic pieces!!

Just felt I needed to voice this! :-(

Disgusting something has gone wrong in the processing of the food quite clearly

I have had this in both dry and tinned food.  The dry food was JWB and also Pedigree Puppy cans.  Both times the plastic was blue in colour and as I was feeding to very small Papillon pups could have caused a problem.  I've never been so glad that I mash there food down with a fork. Pedigree admitted it came from packaging that the raw meat is shipped in to the processing plant.

Pedigree did apologise and offered replacement product / vouchers, JWB didn't even respond.

Anything now being fed to small puppies weaning is thoroughly checked.

The lumps that I found were blue / green in colour. I have taped the pieces onto a bit of paper and I will be sending that through with my letter of complaint.

These pieces that I found are definately big enough to cause a problem to a small pup, like I said, mine are large breed so may have got away with it if consumed (although you never know).

I would not have been so cross if it was just in the bag with the food but the fact that it was actually inside biscuits is just not acceptable in my opinion.

If it comes from the packaging that the raw ingredients are shipped in then it will be processed and become part of the food itself.  What I found was part of the food itself and not just contained in the bag / can.

Hope you get a satisfactory reply.  Pedigree couldn't have been any more helpful where as the other maunfacturer didn't seem to care, even when I approached there reps at a champ show they were not interested and said to contact head office.  Doesn't really matter now as I now use an alternative food and just keep a check for foriegn bodies.

I think it's terrible when companies just ignore complaints - Especially something so serious as this. Imagine if it ended up causing massive problems with a puppy, or even death...

At least they have lost a customer in you and I'm sure other people followed suit if you told them about it.

Hi

Just a thought - take a photograph before you post them and send via Recorded Delivery, in case of dispute.  At least that way they can't say they haven't received them.  May also be worth phoning first to ensure your complaint gets to the right department.  Good luck

And if you're lucky they'll be so concerned they will send you a voucher for a fiver!

I have found plastic, minced rubber gloves and large wood splinters in both wet and dry food.

Thats really strange because a few years ago a bought a box of tesco cereal bars, and as I bit into one I found blue plastic, I just binned it! So the next day, same happened, so I opened all the other bars and they all had the same blue plastic in it, opened the other box and all the bars in there had the same blue plastic running through them. I went into tesco and they sent it off and a few weeks later i got a letter saying some where in the production line it got in and they gave me £10 voucher & refunded my cearal bars lol

Must be some packaging they use on food things, human or dog food, the question is how the heck does it get into the food? Shouldn't be happening!

I had a problem with Butchers Tripe puppy meat, don't give it until around 6-7 weeks and only a spoonful per feed, but 3 packs recently only had a gravy in and no meat.  I called BT and they asked for the date etc printed on the pack......there wasn't any!!!!  Somehow it had slipped through their quality control, which worried me, I know I should have checked, but as I had only just purchased it didn't really think.

BT asked me to return the pouches and sent me a £5 voucher which I really didn't think was good enough, no reason why, for all I know it wasn't even fit for consumption

I remember some time ago, I opened a tin of meat and found a maggot in it!!!

They sent me back a voucher for a fiver and a letter saying that I must have damaged the tin to allow an opening but as a gesture of goodwill, heres a fiver.

I was mad because the tin was totally intact, from when I bought it until I opened it. Obviously a fly must have been on the meat prior to tinning but no apparantly I'd dropped it :-(
