whilst out horse riding, my  10yr GSD decided to chase a deer, as she was running I saw her start limping, she immediately came back to me and was not happy walking, have checked the leg and she doesnt mind me touching it but will not put it to the ground. Is there anything I can give her until I can get to see the vet on monday, I am making her rest, but as soon as she knows I am going out she is up and ready to go. thanks

A couple of our mastiffs have done similar things, 9 times out of 10 they have twisted their legs when they have got a bit too excited and have almost done back flips when catching a ball (quite impressive to see, but very stupid, so no more ball games). If you have a cage or a small room you can put the dog in to reduce it moving around and causing more damage, we section off parts of our house anyway and usually if one has hurts itself or is feeling a bit sorry for itself we put them in there, but it is a room where the family is so we can keep an eye on them until the vets open.

Good old fashion bed rest until you see the vet.

I would ring your vet In the morning if still limping. the on call vet may advise something like aspirin but I'd only give this after speaking to the vet.
