I have a twelve week old border collie puppy. When I bought her I thought she was dual registered - both kennel club and international sheepdog society - as both her parents are. I know very little about the isds so it took me a while to realize that she wasn't registered with them. When I phoned the breeders they said that the people who buy their puppies don't really worry about the registration so they don't bother (saves money I suppose). I think that this is a great shame and was wondering whether it it is still possible to register her with the isds or can this only be done by the breeder and also I do know that certain tests have to be carried out - eye tests etc. What other tests have to be done and is there a time limit to when these tests must be completed? I would be grateful for all your comments.

Sorry no you will not be able to register her with the ISDS. A Guide for ISDS registration can be found
here Edited to add her breeders may still be able to though

Thanks satincollie but not quite sure what you mean by adding her breeders.

LOL sorry my post isnt very clear
What it means is that I edited my post to add to it. Her Breeders may still be able to register her for you

If both parents are registered then the breeder can register the puppies ... this has to be done within a certain time. The first thing you need to do is get in touch with the breeder, check that the parents are ISDS registered, if they are, tell them you want the pup to be registered, you may have to offer to pay the registration fee if they don't register as a matter of course. If the parents are not registered, then the only way you can get your pup registered is through training it and competing in sheepdog trials ... by winning a number of trials you can register on merit - not the easy option!
Any good breeder of BCs (whatever lines) should have the litters eye tested at around 6 weeks old - you should be given a copy of that certificate, clearly showing your pup. Again, you need to check that this has been done.
Ditto what was said the breeder registers the isds and you get a certificate in due course.
Ive got a two year old ISDS dog but we havent bothered with the kennel club register. adversly I have two year old Cocker kennel club registered, so nothing against the KC.
Im not showing either (they are giants!!) so we did not dual register Jake.
thank you for the information but the puppy did not have her eyes tested and the breeders say that they are no longer members of the ISDS so obviously she she will not be able to be registered. Does this mean that this is the end for her line? I do compete in obedience and should I at a future time decide to breed from her, using a sire from ISDS lines, would I be able to register any offspring that she may produce? I do feel quite sad that this might be the end of the connection with the ISDS for her as I have her five generation pedigree and all are ISDS registered, seems a shame.
Contact them if she has the lineage that you can trace Im sure they would cooperte, why not? as you say it would be a real shame to "end the line".
