Hi

I don't get the dog press at the moment but have two bitches I would like to get eye tested pretty soon.  Does anyone know of any clinics in Kent/East Sussex in December/January time please?  I seem to keep missing out on club run ones which obviously are cheaper than the vet run ones at a certain vets in maidstone.  At this point, I just want my girls tested so even the Maidstone one might be an option at the moment.  If anyone has some details I would be grateful.

thanks everyone.

only up to the end of November in the dog paper.  Are you in Sussex ? the nearest ones to you would be one in Deal, Kent next weekend or Hampshire the weekend after, all the rest are further North.
Hit goal weight back in May .... could still do with losing a bit more though !!

Have you tried asking David Hutchison in flatcoats? He runs an eye testing day in the Maidstone area.

I run three a year every year my first will be in February 2010 in Haddenham Bucks with Prof Peter Bedford.

Thanks Sal, I may end up going there although they're even more expensive than Maidstone last time I asked they were over £50 which I thought was a bit cheeky.

I thought there was a set price for eye testing and reductions for groups.

NOpe I was quoted over £50 last time, today it was £49.67 which I thought a little excessive to be honest.

thanks for the info everyone.

Well I would ask why?

There are set charges so that is all you should pay.  I have gone to a panelist when there wasn't a convenient clinic and was never charged more than the set fee.

I might just ask them.

Some vets like to add a consultation charge to the BVA charge, if you attend a veterinary surgery to see a panellist. £50 is not the highest charge I have heard of when a vet has added a consultation charge.

Ooh cheeky.  Might be best to see the panelists at their own surgery, that is where I have always seen my nearest when I have had to use him, and never been charged extra.

Don't forget that Eye Test Sessions can be (and should be) added to the Champdogs Diary rather than the forum please :-)
