Hi All

My white boxer, George, has recently been on a course of antibiotics and as such his tear stains have cleared up totally as have the brown discolorations inbetween his toes.  He finished the tablets a week ago and I have noticed that a slightly yeasty smell has started to return to both his feet and the place where he gets tear stains (you can't smell it until you get REALLY close, it's like that awful dog ear wax smell, yuck!).
Why would the staining have gone with antibiotics and is there any way I can prevent the staining coming back, other than keeping him clean, and stop the foot niblbing that leads to his red feet?
Another day, another lesson learned :-)

i belive there is a product called angel glo that a lot of people use in white dogs but in think you have to get it from the usa it does contain a small amout of antibiotic type ingredient .
if all about lose their heads , have another glass of wine

Sorry I didn't make myself clear properly (as usual!).  Is there anything else I can use other than antibiotics?  I'm not overly bothered about the staining - it's not bad and doesn't bother him - I just wondered what was causing it and how I may be able to eliminate it for the future.  Also as it is a yeasty smell I would not have expected antibiotics to clear it, but something more along the lines of miconazole or another antifungal treatment.  Any ideas?

Would it be worth trying something like Hilton Herbs Phytobalm (http://www.hiltonherbs.com/products/phytobalm/105) or their coal tar, neem and tea tree shampoo (http://www.hiltonherbs.com/products/name/coal-tar-neem-tea-tree-shampoo/81)?
One Golden is never enough! One Dobermann is more than enough!

Bichons suffer from tear staining. I find this is greatly reduced by the feeding regime. Ours gets a quality dried food, and 3 or 4 times a week gets chicken wings. She gets no beef whatsoever.

He's fed Orijen and gets various raw meat as well, though not any beef.  To press it's not come back so I'm just going to keep on top of it in order to try keep it at bay.

You might want to look into the diet. I find that my ACS has more or less teary eyes depending on what foods he is eating!
