I am excited/terrified, my daughter who has just turned 8 is performing on stage tonight for the first time ever - in the musical Annie. She will be Molly, the littlest orphan. I can hardly believe it as she is a very quiet child who has never had a lot of confidence, crossing everything that this will go really well for her! But I think after this week I will have aged about 10 years, it is very stressful being the performer's mother!! Any of you experienced this?! 

Better get a giant box of tissues ready then!    Children always get away with anything on the stage so try to just enjoy the moment!

you must be really proud and i'm sure it will be worth every bit of stress you've had this week. 

One of my sons used to go to a stageschool and performed an awful lot at some of the high profile theatres, there is nothing like seeing your child on stage and the confidence from them is amazing.  No doubt your daughter will be fine, to be honest they don't get a lot of time to be nervous, so much time spent in rehersals and everything is so busy and exciting so much going on, they just get on with it. I've often looked backstage and thought this is just pure mayhem but it all just ticks along.

As already advised, tissues at the ready, don't know about you but I just wanted to see the bits my son was in so kept wanting everyone else to rush by, I never appreciated the rest until later, you will no doubt be very proud.

Ooh yes, I am already very proud, could hardly believe she wanted to audition in the first place, she has never even had a line in a school play before!! And she has been rehearsing since May and taken it all very seriously. In fact she only really learnt to read when she got the script and shows such commitment.

Unfortunately no, it was very sad when he left but he lasted from 3-16 you've probably realised already just how much time and effort it takes, and waiting around, to be honest I don't know how he managed it all for so long as he also did lots of sports, martial arts and cadets too, there was a date change when he reached 16 and it clashed with cadets, so after some soul searching and thoughts on what career he actually wanted he chose cadets (as he could get BTEC's there too)

Also with GCSE's and A'levels to study for, theatre school started to pale for him, he needed more study time. I know he missed it a lot, it was a part of his life for so long, and ours but in the end he made the right choice for him.

Have to say though, I miss the buzz of it all..........enjoy, nothing like seeing your child on stage.

It was incredible!!!!
All the cast were amazing, the write up in today's local paper is terrific.
My daughter (Katherine) had such a great time, hers were the opening words and as soon as I heard her speak I knew she was going to be fine, I could feel the stress drain away and just sat back and loved it all. She had the time of her life and can't wait to do it again! In the end I didn't even need that tissue as I was so happy to see Katherine having such fun!

She's a star in my eyes anyway, but that's as much for her totally professional hard working attitude, and for being so modest and sweet natured.  So funny to see her in character as a loud cheeky little girl when she is the total opposite in real life!
