hi everybody!my 8months collie, jess has cracked pads, although they dont seem to bother her.i suppose dogs feet have a lot to contend with!Should I be worried and is there anything i can do,please?

can't say i've ever seen cracked paws on any of my dogs but that doesn't mean it's a problem. if it's not bothering your dog then i wouldn't worry too much but maybe worth just a phone call to the vets to ask if it's normal or not.

One of mine gets this and her nose also goes flaky. I just rub vaseline into them and put cotton socks on her for a couple of hours afterwards. I usually do it 1-2 times per week.

oh oh oh this is something I can help with, our bitch had this a couple of weeks ago.. some people use vasaline (sorry cant spell it), but we used Sudo Creme, it worked a treat all cleared up after a couple of days. At the next show that you go to you can buy stuff called paw wax, its ani slipping but also helps with cracked pads. You can also get the wax at most doggy shops,oh and I wouldn't leave it because we left our bitch as we thought that it didn't cause her any problems but after a couple of weeks she went lame

But to be honest sudo creme or vasaline is just as good and much cheaper.

Got to love the slobber!

Cornucrescine - a hoof treatment - is the best thing I have found over the years and smells lovely. It's worked for me and everyone I've recommended it to.

personally, i try to stay away from sudocrem as you have to make sure the feet are extremely clean first. this is because it is a barrier cream, although people use it to keep bacteria out, if not completely clean it will trap bacteria in causing infection. same with vaseline. when our bc had cracked feet we were advised by our vet to use a "light moisturiser" such as E45 as it wont hold the bacteria in the foot. keep giving them a daily clean with hibiscrub if you decide to use sudocrem. dont get me wrong, its brill stuff, but ive been told only to use it on "clean" parts of the body. cornucrescine is also brill and does smell wonderful, i use it on my bobbo. dont know which one tooolz means tho, there are 3 types, a white cream type that you paint on with a brush, a tar type (nice smelling but not for a dog kept in the house as it is like liquorice/tar and will stain everything) and their is also an oil but i would imagine that the dogs would lick this off its feet. it tastes great (for dogs) and the dog at the farm lapped up half a tin of it..... had shiny poos for days lol
