When we went to our vets i asked him to recommend a behaviourist and they put me onto a receptionist at a different branch.  She recommended Alotgether animals and no-one else.  We've seen them before though and a) they were very very expensive and b) they said we would have to separate our dogs for the rest of their lives which isn't practical plus i don't want to.  Turns out the receptionist worked for them (biased, much?)  so I've been looking for somewhere else.  The kennel club didn't have much information and now I'm not sure where to go for an ACCREDITED behaviourist - I've tried amichen by jan fennel - the girl was good but didn't really address Lubs fear aggression and some total charlatan who made our lives very much worse for about a year after.  This time I want to do it properly - does anyone have a link to a site I can use please?

Hi,

To my mind (and from personal experience) the best place to start is the Association of Pet Behavior Counsellors,  accrediting only Trainers/Behaviorists who use only positive training methods. This link is to the Essex area for APBC
I would say it would be worth jotting down questions to ask any potential trainer/ behaviorist, you are going to employ them so you ought really to interview them! (This should weedle out any 'charlatans' but if you choose to use APBC this will have already been done ;-) )

HTH.
(I'm just rushing out.. but will post more later, as you have my every sympathy having been there done that! I was incredibly fortunate to have found an APBC trainer straight off and now have a very mannerly wonderful dog due to positive training methods and the dedication of a wonderful trainer)

I have used APBC behaviourist, she was great and costs were about £150.00 for a three hour visit including a walk to see the "problem " as it occurs the follow up emails and pjone calls all free. Extra visits if needed were about £45.00.
Altough she goes quite a distance not sure exactly what areas she covers if you want her direct details please pm me and I will send them . Not sure if I am allowed to give her details on here. Kow I haven't worked for her lol
