Hi,  My GS bitch is 13 and has been spayed years ago.  Apart from the normal GS problems like bad hips, arthritis, she has also been on Propoline for her "wetting" issue.  I am concerned cos it's not working now.  She totally soils her bedding twice a day which is playing havoc with my washing machine - it's never off cos ive got 2 small children aswell - nightmare.  not that i am bothered about that cos after all the years she has looked after us, wet bedding is nothing.  I am just worried that it's now something else.  She is eating normal but drinking alot more than she used to.  Any ideas anyone??

Kidneys failing is a distinct possibility.

Might be worth having your girl blood tested for Diabetes aswell.

I've known people swear by Dorwest Herb Mixed Vegetable tablets for incontinence too, so they might be worth a try.

There are other drugs for urine incontinence that can be tried when propalin no longer works, incurin is one.

Thanks guys for your advise.  I'm going to book the old girl in the vets this week and see if we can change the medication or have some blood tests.

My old man is 15 now. Last year he was diagnosed with kidney failure following blood tests (booked after I noted him visiting his water bowl more frequently). After a change of diet, he has been much improved. His blood tests are better and he drinks far less than last year at this time. However, given that his kidneys don't concentrate urine so well anymore and he does drink more than average, he does need frequent toilet outings. He would struggle to go longer than 4 hours even through the night.

Definitely worth blood tests to check kidney function and diabetes.

I also have a bitch with incontinence who had no success with propalin but incurin works great. However, this was only mild dribbling and I would not be sure that they would stop anything more than this.

Good luck
