I love dogs...it's humans that annoy me

That is so awful, it made me cry to, I could not believe what I was reading -those poor puppies -shut in suitcases being left to die.The rest of the poor dogs treatment as well. Words fail me
Sandy & the crazy cockers
Blamed it on the mental health, yeah right that was just cruel, poor dogs/puppies just glad some got out alive
Blamed it on the mental health,
You cannot dismiss this and although a very tragic and sad case it could be she does have a mental illness and so if it is a diagnosed condition she is not perhaps the bad person in this case.

At least she got a custodial...
The dogs were so lovely playing together. I hope they all get forever homes soon..
Home has hairs on the sofa
Its the easiest way of getting out of charges or getting a reduced fine etc, someone round my way has been in trouble 3 times with the RSPCA for animals, even defra involved as bodies and bones just left anywhere they fall/die, but each time the solicitor plays that card last time he went for medical grounds, yet he is fine we all know it in our village as he is proud to say how he plays the system.
Agreed not all are guilty and if this woman really is poorly i hope she gets the help needed

they actully showed you on the news the puppies in the case's and how they tried to rub them to bring them round it was very very sad,
why did the RSCPA leave her with 10 dogs after the first time they called on her the least they should of done is spade the bitches to avoid them getting preganat,

So so sad, glad the adult dogs are in safe hands now, sleep tight wee puppies x

1 Newf, 2 Newf, 3 Newf, More ????
What kind of mental illness does this??? Sick, absolutely sick....if mental illness does this, then she should never be let out.

i cant comment, ive been staring at a blank page wondering what to write.i cannot seem to bring words together to make a sentance that would describe one:how im feeling and two:what scum this woman is.i dont think shes menatlly ill just plain a sicko there has to be something wrong with her somewhere to even think of doing this i mean come on rescues and people help.what the hell was she thinking!!
what scum this woman is.i dont think shes menatlly ill just plain a sicko there has to be something wrong with her somewhere to even think of doing this i mean come on rescues and people help.what the hell was she thinking!! I too am appalled by the incident but I am also appalled that people are so very quick to judge this person's mental state when they do not know the person involved. Without knowing this woman personally or having access to her medical records none of us are able to vouch for her mental state. It was an horrific situation and should never have happened but suffering from a mental illness is also not a good place to be and I will wait to see what the outcome on the assessment of her mental health is before I condemn her out of hand. I can condemn the action but am not in a position to judge her reasoning for the simple fact that I do not know her medical background at all.

Totallly agree Lizzie.

Why ? This is a reaction of people's view on mental illnesses I find quite sick to be honest.

I agree. People with a genuine mental illness need help not punishment.
I had come across a number of cases of animal abuse when I wrote that so I was feeling rather peed off which shows in my post.
There are different forms of mental illness and different modes of expression. There is neurosis, psychosis and different variations of the two. There is also blame, responsibility and neglect.
In my view, there is too much blame and not enough responsibility in today's world. I can't speak for this woman's mental illness but the action alone is severe in terms of mental problems. If we devoid peoples actions on mental illness, then we can pardon all those unsavouries that abuse children too because they plead mental illness, can we not? Just because it is a different species, it does not excuse the intent, responsibility and the action induced to produce suffering. That is what is so frightening about this.

Spender you didn't write it - it was tamara's comment I was replying to.
As a border collie owner this made me go cold. She gets banned is that it?
Im agast that this cruelty is still happening all they want to give you is there love, why have puppies and do this to them she is sick sick person.
Ive gone cold thinking of this one, and there are no words to write really is there?

I agree to a point but we must take every case on it's own merit and not tar all people with a mental illness of being an abuser. There are plenty of people with mental illnesses that have animals and children that do not abuse them in anyway. There are however people that do go into a crisis that for what ever reason and become unable to be responsible for their actions and so intervention is then needed. It is not their fault it is an illness and so the support services like the NHS, Social Services and the RSPCA should be able to step in to protect all concerned. That is the ideal world but we all know this doesn't always happen.
