We have a 4 month old Shnauzer female puppy who had a rabies vaccine 5 weeks ago. after the vaccine we noticed a lump on her left side of her neck and then noticed small bilateral white lumps on her top lip, we returned to the vet and she suggested she has puppy strangles and gave a course of antibiotics just in case the white lumps became infected as secondary, we have been informed the rabies vaccine was not succesful ant she is anti rabies negative! does anybody know if this puppy strangles could have been caused by the immune systen reacting to the vaccine for the rabies and should she have waited for the rabies vaccine. will she have the antibodies for the rest of her puppy jabs? she appears so health and normal.
