Hi All

I managed to get some lamb rib bones for Robbie from my local butcher he has given me quite a few but i am not sure how long they will last and whether i need to keep them in the fridge or freeze them, i have been advised to feed him these 3 times per week and with only 1 dog these are gonna last ages don't want them going off and making him bad.

They are all different sizes and am not really sure how big a piece he should have as he is only a westie.

I get a load given to me each week by my butcher. They are approximately 12 inches x 6 inches (tapering to a sort of point). I would think for a Westie you could divide into about 4 portions. I usually halve the ones I get with a pair of good kitchen scissors, cutting between the ribs. I then put the portions into freezer bags and put in the freezer. I get them out to thaw the night before they are to be fed in the morning.

Do they have much meat on them or have the been stripped? If they've been stripped I'd give him a little raw meat as well for that feed, if they are meaty feed as is.
One Golden is never enough! One Dobermann is more than enough!

I keep all mine in the freezer if they are big break them up before freezing and bag them. I take them out and will allow them to thaw I am happy to have the meat in the fridge for 2 -3 days. Mine are totally raw fed a gsd and a chihuahua so i need big and small

I also freeze mine, but feed frozen or thawed depending how much blood is on them as thawed out they make a right mess lol

Think they have been stripped as there was hardly any meat on them, he had 1 at lunchtime and gobbled it down the reason i am feeding these is because i have had trouble with blocked anal glands and have been advised to give him bones, people seemed to say lamb rib bones fed 3 times per week should do the trick but will just have to wait and see.

I will freeze the rest then and get them out the night before to defrost, do you know how long they would last in the freezer?
