My 5 month old Dogue de Bordeaux pup started to come out in lumps earlier today . 5 Minutes after seeing the lumps appear her eyelids started to swell up aswell . I checked her thoroughly couldn't find any bites etc . I don't know if I done the right thing but I gave her piriton and applied some eye drops (from another dog from the vets ) this seemed to help , however after 4 hours they seemed to get worse again so I done the same thing. She's been lying in the front room with us and the last half hour have swelled up again the lumps are the size of 50p pieces. I have given another dose of piriton but not eye drops as she's already had them in twice today. Please if anyone knows what this could be I would appreciate your opinions , I think I'll have to call the emergency vet tomorrow if it doesn't get any better. Also I have not fed her anything different but this week I did catch the dogs pull a long piece of ivy through the fence from next doors back garden , I don't know if this could be the cause as it was about 4 days ago.

Hi Cani1, you did the right thing by giving her piriton the anti histermine would have helped with the swelling. Its very possible the Ivy could be the culprit it, is as I am sure you know a poisonous plant. I think if the, piriton & eye drops havent worked and she keeps swelling up I would have taken her to the vets though. They will probably give her a anit histermine injection which will be a bit stronger than the piriton. Hopefully that will sort her out, it sounds as though she had quite a bad reaction to the ivy though? what about your other dog have they shown any signs of swelling too?

Hi Moomins, thanks for your reply . Well what a night she slept upstairs in the spare bedroom with my hubby on the bed at 2 o'clock she was sick all over him , there was mountains of it. I cleaned up her face and noticed one of her pupils was hardly visible this has led me to believe she has been poisoned by something ( possibly the ivy ). Well I have worried all night but as the hours passed the swelling has almost gone she only has a slighty puffy eyelid now ( all the lumps have gone ) THANK GOD!
I think her being sick has cleared her system out. Can't take my eyes off her  , also I thought it best not to give her breakfast ( I feel so cruel though) I'll give her an early tea.
