I have a litter of 8 week old pups who are going to their new homes this week.   One on the four left with me has started racing around, digging in bedding, burying his nose in bedding and is obviously not happy or comfortable.  I have checked his ears, eyes and mouth and felt his tummy, etc...but everything seems ok.  He seems to calm down and sleep, then wakes up and plays with the other pups..then it starts again.  This has been going on for about 2 hours on and off.

Has anyone come across this before?

Many thanks
Bernie

Vet should check that nothing has gone up his nose or in his ear. Sounds like a major irritation unless it's his latest game :-)

I'd keep an eye open for more of the same and, if so, get it checked.

Thanks Tooolz....that's what I thought...he did it again at 4am but is fine this morning.  I may get the vet to check him as he is due to go with his new family at 3pm today.  It was worrying as it was so late last night when it started!

Have you checked under the bedding/  RU sure that he's not a pup with a keen nose and that there'ssomething under there s they are a gundog breed aren't they?
If I wanted a Poodle, OES, TT or IWS I would have bought one. SWD's shd. be natural and rustic. No

have you wormed the pup in the last day or two?  this may be the cause.

I took him to the vet Sunday morning, as although he seemed better and ate breakfast he started wimpering and becomming unsettled.  His tummy was very tender and the vet thought perhaps he had swallowed a foriegn body...we had x-rays and nothing showed, so it would seem he had a sore stomach..he may well have eaten something which upset him.  By Sunday evening he was getting better and on Monday back to normal...He really had me worried though and his new owners were so upset that they couldn't take him.

Thanks for all your advise..it is good to have somwhere to turn to when things happen at night time!!!

Cheers
Bernie
