My two girls were spayed yesterday, the Older one seems fine, has  eaten a little and drunk a bit, but the younger one was sick yellow bile several times in the night, and won't drink or eat  anything. I have  tried milk and water  and various foods that she usually likes, but she just sniffs and turns away.  I have syringed some water  in to her mouth but she just threw it back up again. Iwill speak to the vet but just wondered if this was normal after spaying?

Dogs can react differently to a GA. Mine is always kept in for longer as she cannot keep anything down. But I would definately get her checked out. Do you have a thermometer? Can you check her temp?

the  vet said just see how she goes this morning but if she is still not eating they will see her this afternoon. Her temp is 38.5. Is this a bit high? just realised I don't know what it should be.

that temps about right. She's probably just reacting to the GA, so see how she is a bit later

Much better thanks, They have both eaten their tea and Mist hasn't been sick since this morning. They are both still moving slowly and carefully but are looking a bit brighter. Thanks for asking

Mist seems much better this morning, but Susie is worrying me now. She seems  unhappy. When she moves she sort of dashes to where she wants to go. She is hunched up  and even when lying down seems very tense, her ears are back and her eyes very large. She has had metacam but it hasn't made a difference so not  sure if she is in pain, but she  is really not her usual self at all. I will call the vet  later (I am sure  they think I am totally neurotic). Just wondered if this was normal and am I worrying unneccessarily?

Hi, I'm glad Mist is feeling better this morning. With Susie, it may well be slight pain related to the sutures pulling?
I'm suprised the vet prescribed pain relief after a spay, but things may have changed since I worked with small animals.
Don't worry about calling the vet, they're your dogs and that is what the vet is there for :-)
