Our Idle Italian Slug or "Bear" to his friends passed away yesterday after a short illness. Bear was everything a bracco should be and more. A handsome dog of immense character. Loved by everyone who knew him and met him. A dog who strongly believed in conserving energy - especially his own! On shoot days, between drives, it was not unusual to find Bear leaning against the nearest tree, taking-a-nap before his services were required again. A fact that could not be ignored as he was usually snoring his head off whilst he did so!

Bear would always greet people with a 'retrieve' in his mouth. If no 'gift' was to hand, he would pick up his own ear and present that to you with great ceremony. He was also an aquaholic and insisted on drinking his water by putting the majority of his muzzle underneath the surface! A very frightening experience the first time we witnessed it. I was sure he would drown himself! Drinking in this manner also allowed him to blow enormous bubbles which inturn flooded the floor and I am sure this is the only reason he did it!

A dog whom, once met - you never forgot. He was a dog in a million and a brilliant ambassador for the breed.

It has been a pleasure to have known him and love him.

Until we meet again Beary xxxx

I'm sorry Leigh, I missed this thread.   Its not an area of CD I like stepping into.

It seems like only yesterday when you were sending me photos of Bear, then he was here!     So sorry to hear he is no longer here in a physical sense but his spirit will always live on!
3 litters of Munsters = 3 Sh.Ch's & 3 RCC winners! Not bad eh?
