Just looking through a few websites i have spotted a lovely tweed jacket(with price to match). I have been looking through a few sites and just wondered if there was anywhere people knew where i could get a jacket similar to the one below for a fraction of the price - not wanting to do mail order, would want to try it on in a shop.

I got a beautiful Tweed jacket in the local charity shop, it cost me £20!

Ooh thats an idea. Trouble is as my family have said tweed is not fashionable right now, hence to problem in finding something cheaper.

When I worked for Shelter, anything tweed or velvet was usually put out for sale & sold because they are good quality unlike Primark etc. which go out of fashion so quickly & are cheap.
3 litters of Munsters = 3 Sh.Ch's & 3 RCC winners! Not bad eh?

Right a trip round the charity shops then i think.. Can't justify spending a fortune on a jacket from Dubarry right now. Have no idea how much i'd wear it anyway.

Oh so very true there Christine.. Can't even recall the last time i even went into that shop.

Give it a week or so when people start turfing out their cupboards to make room for their Christmas gfts etc. and before they go back to work, that's usually a time for donations coming through the door!

I was just going to say that our local garden centre had Joules tweed jackets and waistcoats when I was in last weekend if you know a local stockist.

Local Saddlers/Riding Equipment shops?  It is a typical show type hacking jacket, but with shaped sleeves and only 1 button, so if you are willing to forgoe the flared cuffs and accept 3 buttons riding wear could answer the purpose.  Derby House usually have a good range - like this one -

or this one?

Good luck in the search.

Gwen I was going to say the same. What size are you looking for because I think we may have some tweed show jackets lying around that are no use anymore...I can check the sizes?
Weight loss progress: this week 1 pound - total 3.5 pound.

It does vary on style so i can be anything from 6-10.

If you do have something laying about and you're not far away i can always pop by to have a look?

I'm down in Sussex, so not really near at all. But still interested in what you may have. Only when you have time..
Thanks

I've seen the Jack Wills one in the shop (my niece is hooked on that shop!)  It is a good quality tweed, but like most Jack Will stuff has a sort of "aged " look if you know what I mean, and is very fitted and much shorter than a normal tweed jacket.  Kind of gives the impression it is one you have had since you were a kid but can still button up!  The Joules on is much more traditonal, not seen the Dubarry one in real life.

Ok Gwen, i popped into town but JW wasn't open yet. I want it to sit around my hip area, so not your normal 'riding' type jacket.
Had a peek in Oxfam which was open, nothing in there either.
They sell Joules in some of the garden centres around here, so will pop into those to have a look.
