Hope you had a nice Christmas everyone?

Just been to collect my Irish Setter girl Ruby, who has been in the vets since yesterday morning with a respiratory infection, so glad to have her home, what a mess she has been in.

I just can't believe how quickly she deteriorated, she only started to act unwell on Sunday afternoon and by yesterday morning she was literally at deaths door, very traumatic few days. But she is home now and we are sooooo pleased, especially Geoff who has been very naughty since she went in!

Has anyone else had any similar experiences with their pooches with chest infections?

not with chest infections, but my boy only came back from vets on 22nd after being on deaths door with rat poison poisoning, its so nice to have them home tho isnt it. even with 10 dogs a house is just not the same with one missing. mccartney was in almost a week, it was horrible, just as he seemed to pick up and ready for home, he went poorly again, fine and dandy now tho, keeping us all entertained with his antics!
glad she's home tho, she'll soon put boy back in his place lol

I followed your post and was so glad to see he had come home, rat poisoning is every dog owners worst nightmare isn't it.

Ruby was ill a year ago with Metaphyseal Osteopathy and was so ill she spent nearly two weeks on and off at the Cambridge University vets which is two hours away from us as although our vets are fab they didn't know enough about the condition to give her the best treatment. I swear if she was a cat she would have lost about 3 lives by now, such a lucky girl.

I was bursting with pride when I saw her wagging her tail this evening and she has only been in since yesterday.

So glad both your boy and my girl are on the road to recovery, and thank the lord for dog insurance!

My sons GF lost her dog week before Xmas. He chewed some thing that caused a blockage. Died on the operating table... He was such a sweet boy..

youre telling me, rat poison one was £1600 and a bit, in aug he had gastroenteritis,£1200, had pano in april which was so severe required x rays to check for broken bones which cost £400, £3000 in 1 calendar year, luckily was split in to 2 insurance years

Most folk say to me "HOW MANY?" 

The first week of December, everyone here had a chest infection.  Coughing, sneezing, vomitting from coughing spells.  It was horrible!  They didnt have to stay at the vets for any time (although with James and Reba I wondered).  A week of AB and they were fine.  Hopefully your girl recovers quick! 
If its the same one my guys had, the sneezing lasted a bit longer than the actual infection, but again, they are all fine.
