We are going to Manchester champ show tomorrow to watch. We have not entered this time but want to bring along one dog who can stay in his crate in the car. Will there be any problems when I leave the car park as I will not have a pass out coz not entered?

Any news on the dog in car question?

Im sure it was manchester a couple of years ago (well it was that venue) that you needed a pass at the exit to the car park.  Im sure you can get one from the secretary, you should check though.

You only need a pass if you are taking a dog out of the car park. Humans are free.

If you are planning to leave your unentered dog in your car whilst you watch the show - please take care to ensure all his needs are met.  You'll generally find that other dog owners are very vigilant about dogs in cars and the car park staff are usually asked to keep an eye on things too.  There have been several reported incidents of cars being broken into to free dogs in distress.  Although this usually occurs in the summer there have been problems in the winter too.

I'm sure you won't leave him too long and it's easy enough to get between the buildings and car parks but do keep a close eye on him

As someone else has mentioned I'd call the secretary beforehand.  This showground is very vigilant about checking cars, dogs and passes and whilst you may be able to get in without problems you may find it much more difficult to get out without some form of pass or letter of approval.  Generally there is a facility to accept dogs NFC (Not For Competition) and you can leave him to be looked after by volunteer staff.  I don't know whether they'd accept him at this late stage but it may be dependant on space.  Good luck and have a nice time

When we went to the National at the same site, we had to have a pass to get dog off the showground.  Don't know if it varies between shows though. 

The NFC fee for this show was £12 in the catalogue so guess if you do need to leave him somewhere in order to get the exit pass, it could be expensive day out - worth checking with the secretary.

Every schedule has a big old rant about dogs in cars at dog shows. Committees are asked to patrol carparks and report any distressed dogs.... in their opinion!

Why take the dog just to leave it in the car ????. What experience can your dog gain apart from getting stressed out at the passing dogs and people. Dont you think for the sake of the dog it would be better to leave him/her at home (and get a friend to check on him/her) where they will be more content and less stressed. I would rather pay someone to check on the dog at home than leave them in a car most of the day

Hi Maddie, many thanks for your concern for Raz.
Some of you may have read my post of about a month or so about my friends house being destroyed by fire just before christmas and them loosing floyd in the fire who I bred.
Raz is the dog that managed to get rescued but it is ovious he has had a hard time mentally with it all (previously my friend had got him from boxer rescue as his owner had died in Ireland so more trama there I guess).
As my friend is still picking up the pieces from her total loss and she has not found any suitable temporary accomodation, we are looking after Raz until she gets back on her feet.
I have 4 boxers. Until 1 week ago my boy did not tollerate Raz and we have had to get the baby gates out and be very strick. At the moment he and the 3 girls are justabout letting him be part of the pack but Raz through his trama would rather curl up on his own and face the wall.
On the day of the Manchester show my family will see to my 4 through the day but knowing Raz and the circumstances that surround him, taking him with us and letting him be quiet, in his own space, safe and sound with us popping back frequently is much kinder to him than being left alone in a house with 4 relativly strange dogs with my family worrying if a fight may break out if by chance they wern't separated correctly.
Maybe I should have explained this at the begining but I was only asking for simple advise about dog passes.

Sorry aimibobs for jumping in I didnt understand why you had to take the dog. Poor boy!!!!!!!!!!! I understand your reasons now. I suppose taking him into the show would be stressfull too. God bless him

Stafford showground, check the cars on the way out.  I popped in with one of my dogs in the back of the car to collect a few bits 9we were going to see family - hence the dog was with us).  If you go to the Secretary, they will give you an exit slip for the dog.

You might be able to take him round the show with you.  i'm sure its just the car park pass you need to get him out.  he could have a little break like that maybe.
