Just been in touch with mobile sheep scanner in sheffield. Very nice lady, she will come to your house or you can go to her. she recommends dog scanning at 35 days as then she can definitly know the number of pups there, any earlier and they can still be re-absorbed. She charges £30 and it covers the whole of the pregnancy, so if you have any problems or are worried you dont pay anymore.

Hm, well she didn't with mine -scanned her twice during the pregnancy, saw two pups both times, last time was at 8 weeks of pregnancy. Bitch had 3. Caused us a lot of distress as the bitch gave birth to two dead pups and we assumed that was it -third and only live pup arrived later. The two dead ones had probably died minutes before being born so should not have been missed on scan. I now use my vet instead as he can feel at less than 4 weeks if the bitch is pregnant or not, rather than have to wait to 5 weeks.

Hi what vets do you use mine do not have a scanning machine I was going to drive to derby but if someone can in Sheffield i would rather do that What was the problem with sheep scanner Are any of them 100% accurate when scanning ? Only ask this cause i have read a few stories of how pSeople have missed full litters Sorry you lost 2 pups that must of been terrible x

We wont be going to her and she doesnt travel this far north (Teesside)...so we will be going to our local vets here who also charge £30. Its a 2hr plus journey for us to get to sheffield and then petrol on top of that.

I go to a sheep scanner near Chesterfield, so not too far from Sheffield.  I don't think she does mobile though.  She is great, first litter she told me 4 or 5 pups, she went on to have 5.  Second litter she told me 3 definites and 2 possibly as they weren't clear, she went on to have 4 healthy pups and one that was born dead, probably died a week or so earlier.  I won't put her details on here as I don't know if she would want me to but if anyone wants her contact details please pm me and I will be happy to pass them on.

Thanks Annie for that i went to see liz yesterday she is really really nice She scanned my little girl earlier than normal as her husband and me got detAILS mixed up What she did tell me that my girl is def in whelp but as she is only 22 days can not say if she will reabsorb so i go back next week
