This guy was a professional handler as such, gets sacked and jail time as it should be, here, we are still awaiting the outcome of PC Mark Johnoston case do you think he'll get a similar outcome?

Agree but its got to better than a slap on the wrist.  I was just thinking if he's got 12 wks for pet dogs maybe the Police handler would get more because his dogs were professional workers, fully trained to do a job of work ergo more 'valuable' to the public than someone's pets in the eyes of the law?

12 weeks isn't much for the life of a dog but it will hopefully get a message across. Going to jail also means more than the actual time spent - loss of earnings, reputation, ability to get employment, ability to own animals, effects on family etc.
