Hi,I used Red Mills for my boy from 8 weeks then onto adult food at around a year. No problems at all, his breeder used it and recommended to me.

Hi, yes we have just had our 1st order delivered, looks a great food, very cheap too, but i dont mind what it cost as long as the dogs look in good condition with glossy coats, the rep was great too.

What is Red Mills?
By annastasia (**) [gb] Date 11.02.10 10:30 GMT
It is called Connellys red mills, it is actually a greyhound food, but many in our breed use it, google it, it is made in Ireland.

Its not just greyhound food, they do other ranges, such as the Leader Supreme which is the best of their foods and it isnt for greyhounds, its more desogned for pet and show dogs.

They have a greyhound range but that is completely different than the Leader and Leader Supreme range.

Hi, Yes we have the leader supreme for a sensitive female, the rep did recommend the racer plus and excel for our  other dogs, a friend in our breed who shows also, she feeds this too, time will tell what they look like, they have only been eating it 1 week fully now, i was mixing their own food into it slowly.

We used Red Mills with fantastic results.  Reared our litter on it and had really good bone and substance.  Not much "poos" either.  The breeder club is also really helpful and sends you great puppy packs.  I would definitely recommend it.

Hiys Chris, long time no speak, i recognised your name,
Yes our friend said her puppies had fab bone strength on the red mills too, which one did you use?

Oh never thought to ask for puppy packs was just going to make my own up.

Thanx for that Chris.

Hows Max?

Hya,  yes hopefully we will be back at the club again soon.

We used the Leader range of Red Mills and joined the breeder club, we recieved loads of help and advice and lovely puppy packs which comprised of food, bowls, dog tags and other goodies.

We fed mum on the Leader Adult and then weaned puppies on their puppy food.  As I said the resulting bone and substance was really good.

Max is coming on really well, still a bit of a hooligan though.  Thanks

Yes we have the leader range for a sensitive female, but the rep told us to get the racer plus and excel as he said its silly to feed the leader range when the greyhound one is just as good, we will see.

You make me laugh when you call max Hooligan ha ha!

We should really go back to club, but the dark wet nights is offputting eh?

Have a pup to take in about 10 weeks,.

I read about this on the dog food analysis site - they were very disparaging about it.

What does that mean lol x
Our dogs all look far better on this than our previous food, a litter of pups are all chunky and very strong boned so im happy with it, as a friend of ours recommended it who has been in our breed 30 years and swears by it.

Its up again now. It only has Racer, Tracker and Xcel though. I like the site, it made me change my dog's food.

Hum im not sure about the food now, Orijen gets 6 stars, its too expensive to feed 9 GSD'S on it though.

I have to say it has made me look at ingredients more. I feed raw but also feed fish4dogs as its grain free. There is a food called vitalin lifestyle (its nothing like the old rubbish stuff http://www.vitalinpetfood.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/VitalinCompletePetFood/_Adult/283513/Adult ) which has no grains and is much cheaper. I've asked them to do a review on it.

As the old saying goes "You get what you pay for".

I feed a mainly raw diet and top it with Orijen (although I'm trying Barking Heads at the moment [which gets a 4* rating on the pet food analysis site], which is going down quite well with my lot). With Orijen you are paying for the 70% meat, which to me is a more appropriate diet for a carnivore. You could always add tripe/raw meats etc, as I do, which will bring the cost down a bit or join their Breeder scheme.

Golly not like the old Vitalin at all.  Like the fact they give the percentage of meat meal.  the analysis on the sensitive compares well with what I feed at the moment so might be interested in trying some.
