Where can i buy vet bed or simalar in bulk, anyone know?
By annastasia (**) [gb] Date 07.02.10 12:20 GMT
We can be contacted via Email BOBFIREDOGSTAR@AOL.COM or Tel. 01670 503063

5 Meter roll £50
10 meter £100, £7.50 delivery most areas,

I have had 2 rolls off them recently, very efficient service and quality IMO bedding, by far the cheapest i have seen so far.

I've used Profleece and been very pleased with the quality.  They sell 1.5m widths in a 5m or 10m roll.  It's much cheaper than buying small pieces.  I once cut 19 beds from a 10m roll and most were 42" x 28" (I think I still have my cutting plan somewhere!!)

i use bronteglen, and buy 10m rolls. good quality vetbeds compared with some of the cheap offers ive seen at shows.

Another vote for Profleece.

Another vote for Profleece here too, washes beautifully.

Thanks for all your replies.
From what i have been told there are two types of backing, one is stiff & and one that's not so which is the best to use?
By Jeangenie (*****) [gb] Date 07.02.10 22:26 GMT
Another vote for Profleece here. My last lot was bought about 9 years ago and looks as good as new, despite frequent washes.

The Profleece one I have is the higher quality one (not the economy one they offer).  If you look at the site you'll see plenty of photos of the backing.  It's flexible from new but will soften more with use and washing.

Washes brilliantly, doesn't flatten too much and doesn't unpick around the edges.  It sheds fluff for a while so it's a good idea to wash it and brush some of the loose fleece out before using.

It's always worth spending money on a product you can trust to do the job properly.  I'm more than happy to recommend it and would happily buy it again if I needed to.  However, I bought plenty the first time round and years later it's still going strong!! :-)

Exactly the same as dogs a babe.  I bought a large roll, and it seemed as if I was cutting forever!!

But I have loads now, and I don't have to worry about how many times a day that it needs changing.  I  am so glad that I don't have to rely on 3 or 4 pieces.

I have a friend that hasn't shown or bred for years, and still uses it for her pet dogs.  Really does wash and wear well.

Another vote for Profleece here. I have bits that I have had for ages and they are still in great condition.

None of mentioned Vet Bed, isnt it any good then?
By Henri3402 (**) [gb] Date 09.02.10 15:25 GMT
Yes the original Vetbed is very good, washes very well and lasts for years, just boring colours, I like pink, purple, yellow etc when we have a litter.  Last time I looked Vetbed came in white, grey and pawprints.  No way would I use grey! Also Profleece is easily available at Ch shows.

Profleece is fine, I think great for bigger dogs as it is a lot thicker BUT Vetbed still is the best.  It does actually wash up line new.. I don't think the profleece does really BUT it is a good alternative.

I like vet bed , it is more expensive but you can see and genuinely FEEL the difference.  I buy the gold backed one.
By munkeemojo (***) [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:47 GMT
I agree blue-it does last ages. The stuff I have is nearly 6 years old and you'd never know. It's just the standard green backed stuff, but it's as good it was when bought, if not better (and i've washed it loads-the green backing becoming softer and softer). Got mine from Bronteglen.
By Tricolours (**) [gb] Date 09.02.10 19:15 GMT
Henri3402 why wouldn't you use grey vet bed?
By Henri3402 (**) [gb] Date 10.02.10 11:49 GMT
Hi Tricolours, just don't like the colour, I like the new babies to be on something pretty, pink, yellow, purple etc!

I use grey in the kennels, doesnt get dirty as quick, i change it twice a day though anyway, but for new litters and the females i use white, i can see when my females are in season then.

We use yellow and pink for everyday use in the beds for all Boxers and Frenchies, that too is easy to see when looking for day one of a season when getting them out of bed on a morning.  Just don't like the grey bedding or the brown that is sometimes seen (not so much these days). It's just a personal thing, don't mind a grey skirt or trousers but not grey dog bedding.  Life wouldn't be much fun if everyone liked the same.

Yes we are, but not as sad as when you and a friend both have a litter and are enthusing about the consistency of the puppies' toilet.

Just out of curiousity what temp do you wash your profleece/vetbed on & what powder do you use?
By annastasia (**) [gb] Date 11.02.10 15:07 GMT
I wash it on a 60 degrees and use  biological powder. just shops own brand for the dogs bedding.

I got some grey last time I ordered any, thought it would last better than white when it started looking a little old. I was pleasantly surprised to find a black pawprint pattern on it which was fun!
By annastasia (**) [gb] Date 11.02.10 15:21 GMT
Yes i like the grey too, i do like the pawprint one especially, but our puppies are black when born so they blend in with the dark vetbed, hence why i buy white now or cream.

Ha ha good point, I suppose my tricolours were fairly black! :-)

40 degrees with Fairy non bio.

Ive brought from Profleece and onther company on ebay. From now on I'll be sticking to Profleece!
The stuff I brought from them six years ago is still going strong. The ebay stuff, dispite them claiming it had the same density/depth etc as my original profleece, was much thinner and most definately nowhere near as dense as the profleece stuff.

As for washing it, 40 degrees with biological for the everyday washing, 60 degrees with biological for whelping box washing.

Profleece for me too.  It last ages and washes a dream and I don't replace it until they've most of it which takes ages.  :-)

I'd never wash bedding for a whelping box (or kitten bed) in less than 95 degrees.
