My vet has just changed Scarlets pain relief medication to Prevacox from Carprieve ( Norocarp ). Does anyone have any experience of this drug, good or bad?

Thanks

Sue

Its worked wonders with my collie and we haven't had any side effects. So all good here.

Hamish was on it for a short while and there were no side effects. He started hydrotherapy and pretty quickly he no longer needed the Previcox, so can't say if that would be the same long-term.
One Golden is never enough! One Dobermann is more than enough!

Funny you should post this.  I took my 4yr old Rottie x gsd to the vets yesterday as its looking like she may have arthritis as she is getting very stiff and uncomfortable after exercise.  One leg was too painful for her to let him  examine.
He has put her on a weeks previcox to see how she goes on it and to then reasses when she has come off it.

I can tell you now it improved a great deal.  However sadly it looks like its causing her other problems so my vets advised I stop it today for a couple of days and then if she ok try it again.

My pyrenees was on Previcox for a while last summer, but unfortunately he experienced quite severe side effects. His liver started suffering and his digestive system was buggered up. Luckily, we caught the onset of the side effects early and his liver recovered, but his stomach is still extremely sensitive... So unfortunately Previcox wasn't for us.
