Someone I know has offered to take on her daughters adult dog.  He's coming from Bermuda

I'm finding out more today but I think he was bred over there so I'm not sure what they have by way of a Kennel Club.  As just a pet is there any reason to register him over here with the KC - is that even possible?  Also are microchips universal, can his existing chip be read easily over here?

Thanks for the help, I've also got a question elsewhere about airport procedures and I'm sure there will be more...

bermuda has a busy show scene, as i know someone in usa who goes there showing on a circuit......im imagining they are AKC, so no probs with transferring the paperwork. Chips should be universal.

At the ARC they will have several scanners, one of which will easily read amercian chips. Paperwork is also easy if you want to register him over here.

If just a pet then no reason at all to register with KC. It will not affect the relocation.
Acquiring a dog may be the only opportunity a human ever has to choose a relative.
