I have a dobermann and I can't believe the amount of hair.  I brush him most days and honestly I could hoover every day.  We had a dobe before and really don't ever remember there being so much hair.  Can anyone recommend a good brush or comb?  It drives me mad, I have a light coloured stone kitchen floor!

We have an electric brush, it's fantastic, we've had it for about 16 years, it collects all the hair and then just pop off the cover over the "bristles" remove hair and carry on, easy to wash when finished too.  3 of our Frenchies are losing their coats at present so I did what I used to do with two of the Boxers - I hoover them, they love it.  Take the wide flat attachment designed to hoover curtains etc and starting at neck go down their back and legs.  Obviously don't go near ears or the boys' bits!!

A Zoom Groom for getting out the loose hair, followed by a bristle brush then a wipe with a chamois leather should have him gleaming.

I'm the opposite - white dog and dark kitchen floor.  Nightmare!!!  I never thought such a short haired dog could lose so much hair.
The zoom groom is fabulous, and also works wonders when removing his hair from the car too.
Another day, another lesson learned :-)

I have three big hairy Bernese and yet my friends little JRT (Rough coat) leaves more hair on my carpets in ten mins than mine do in a day!!! Her hair just spikes into the carpet and it is imposiible to get out wheras mine lays on top and is easily hoovered away !!!

My grooming routine is...
Furmintaor...
then a good, firm, vigorous rub wearing a pair of marigolds...
Furmintaor again...
Horses body brushing but any medium firm brush will do...
Chamois leather.

Whole routine takes about 10 mins and I have a very similar coated breed.

I ve just read back what i'd written,it does sound like i run the whole hoover over her what i didnt say is that the brush attachment is on the end of the extending hose and used this way lol x

My dobe is fine with the hoover, but sometimes it does depend on his mood.  If he fancies a bit of a lark then he will bark at it, but other times he just ignores it. x  Thanks for the tips, I am going to have a look at a couple of different brushes.  At the moment I use a glove with a rubber side, and a flat side.  I must admit his coat it beautiful, he is always gleaming and shiny, but the hair - it gets everywhere!!!!

My girls are completly unfazed by the hoover and if sleeping will not move a muscle while I can hoover all around them...I have to get quite insistant before they will move...otherwise I would have Berny shaped grubby patches where I could not hoover up!!!
They all like it when I put the dog brush connecter on the hose and "Hoover" them out!
