The media are bloomin' crazy they go from this article

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/feb/03/puppy-farms-battery-dogs

to this one in about two weeks...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/feb/14/lucy-siegle-pedigree-dogs-puppy-farms-inbreeding

A friend who reads the guardian usually passes dog related articles to me they are not in the least bit doggy though, so for them to say they did not understand the advice being given shows that more needs to be done to promote the good breeders.

Crufts is nearly upon us and we can definitely bet (not that any bookies would take the bet these days) that JH and co will be wheeled out to yet again tar all breeders with the same brush.

Gordon Bennett. For a start, what's the bet that a) the puppy farm bred dogs will be FAR more inbred -who's to say their pedigrees are correct at all? and b) randomly bred mongrels could be just as inbred not to say FAR more, with nobody to control what's going on. How would anyone taking on a rescue know it was NOT heavily inbred? NONE of my rescues have lived as long as the dogs I've bought from good breeders.
Marianne. Dogs are not our whole lives, there are cats too!
