I am after advice on Idexx as I have never had any of my bitches blood tested before mating but have decided this is the best way. My bitch is currently on day 8 and the man I spoke to said to start testing around 8 - 10 days. The problem being I go away (training weekend) on Friday tea time and will get back Monday dinner time. I was going to get her bloods done on Thursday (day 10) and send them Special delivery. My question is what are the chances of me getting the results on Friday before I go?

I only ask as if she will be ready to mate over the weekend then I wont go away but obviously if she isnt then I will. I dont think she will be ready until around 16 days but knowing my luck she'l be bang on 12 days LOL! Mind you my 2 studs arent interested in the slightest so thats a good sign.

Any help is much appreciated.

Larry at Idexx tends to ring between 12 and 2 but if you put your mobile number he will ring your mobile
so you can be contacted anywhere then

I think you usually get the results the day after, so you could possibly have them back in time, can you not test her wednesday (day 9) you will see where she is in her cycle then . Good luck, i dont use Idexx as we have a very good vet that does ours and we get results the same day. But believe Idexx is fantastic.

Yeh I could get her done tomorrow I just thought I would leave it as late as possible as I wouldnt be able to re test until Monday.

Not sure what the time scale is between re testing as I have never done this before LOL!

I recently dropped the bloods off at 10.30 & Larry phoned me on my mobile at 12.30, very helpful, saved me ringing my vet 3 times & having to wait til 6.15pm for an answer which is what happened 2 days before.

Yes your right, like you said you need to know before you go away so you can plan, mine never make things straightforward for us, lol x, 1 female tests came back mate immediately, had to get in car at 5pm and drive through the night to Germany.

Usually re-tests are 48 hours after.

Wil get her bloods taken on thursday and hopefully get the results before I go.

I have had blood taken on a Friday before now and had the results on the Saturday afternoon. Larry is very good.

Well had bloods done yesterday (day 10) got results today and she is very low and I was advised to re test on Monday, so worked out well!!

I had my girls bloods done on Friday and she was 11.9.  Advice was to mate today (Monday) - she missed last time and I am so apprehensive about it all this time.  She really looks up for it this morning though - encouraging the others etc!  Be glad when we've got to stud and he can do whats required!!
Hope you get a result from your bloods today.
Also - trying to find the post with more details re levels ovulation occurs - I know ideal mating time is between 40 - 60.

I started testing my girl on day 8 ( Monday )and her bloods came back at 4.4 , we were told to go back 3 days later ( Thursday ) & the results were 16.9.
We were told the best days to mate would be on the Saturday & the Monday which we did with a 15 minute tie each time & my girl is now just starting her 6th week :0)

Well bloods done again yesterday (day 14), results today and her levels 7.4 so Ive been advised to get her bloods done tomorrow.  I have my fingers crossed the best time to mate will be Thursday and Saturday as I cant take her Friday!!

Shouldnt ov said that really coz nothing ever goes to plan LOL!
