i saw on one of the posts to only use a dilute solution of hibiscrub,as its fairly strong.Id been reccomended to use twice as much water as scrub,what should i be using?my pup had a bald patch on her face,the vet said wait and see,as its not inflamed or itchy,and my friend said try hibiscrub,as it cant hurt.thanks in advance!

We usually recommend 1 part hibiscrub to 10 parts water - sometimes down to 1:20.

I wash my boy in a very dilute solution of Hibiscrub to remove the mud after a walk as it makes him a bit itchy.  I use half a bucket of water and one short squeeze of Hibiscrub.  I don't know what the actual dilution works out to be but I suspect it's less than 1:100.  It's probably about a teaspoon in 3 or 4 pints of water?  It's great stuff though and certainly works for us.

I'm not sure exactly how your girl would benefit from Hibiscrub if she isn't itchy or sore but it shouldn't do any harm.  Have a look at Dermacton - this might be helpful.

I'm replying to correct my own posting - as I can see my figures didn't make sense!

I'd be happy to stick to vet/bottle guidelines of 1:10 for wound washing but for general purpose washing such as mine (removing pollen, mud and other irritants) I prefer a much more diluted solution.  During the winter mud I might use Hibiscrub daily on his tummy, paws and legs.  Even used in very dilute amounts it can be very drying so I replenish lost moisture with Dermacton.

Has anybody bought hibiscrub in a shop recently? It seems to have shot up in price presumably since swine flu. I use to pay about £3 for 500 ml but just recently paid £7.99 for 250ml from a well known high street chemist.

I have seen it cheaper online but not sure if it would survive being sent through the post or via carriers or whatever.

Personally I think the vast price increase is a rip off.

I have recently had a bottle of Hibiscrub sent from Canine Chemist. It arrived safely. Go for it.

I noticed the same from my chemist, was really shocked at the price, then realised where I had put the last almost full bottle at home. ;(  So now I ahve two,a dn the new oen was only 250ml.

1 to 10 ratio is about right, although have used it a lot stronger on the horses in the past.
