Hi everyone,

I hope someone is able to give me some help or information on here my girl is 3 years old and was in season a few days ago all the classic signs were there swelling and bleeding and lasted for only 1 day then the next day no more blood and is no longer swollen down there and she wasn't in long enough to be in 'standing heat' as to say I have spoken to a breeder about it and they say it seems to be she's going through a 'split season' and should come in again a couple weeks or couple of months time and will have the second part of her season I must say that she has already had 2 seasons here with me and they were what you would call text book signs the question is does anyone have had any experience with this or heard of this with information thanks

Well my bitch did this to me on 4th February spotting for one day the day after her daughter came in season.

She stopped and has now come in on 17th February properly.

I have had it happen a couple of times with mature older bitches that have already had pups, when there has been another bitch in season.

I am hoping to mate her this time as she missed in October, so hope the season progresses as normal now.

The two previous times with two different bitches, both came in season as if they had not had the false start, so it wasn't continuance of the previous, but a fresh start.  with both it was about a week or two later.

Yes - I actually had a bitch catch on the second part of her split season.
The hurrier I go - the behinder I get!
