just need to vent to other 'doggie' people, just had an awful incident was walking my dog with friend and her 6mnth pup, we both had our dogs on leads mine because he's not too keen on other dogs running up to him I have to do careful introductions.
Anyway these two dogs came running up to us went straight for my boy and one of them bit him (it's broken the skin) normally I never confront anyone as I'm a very timid person but I was very cross with this lady as she didn't say anything at all just carried on walking.
This dog came over again so I shouted at it to go away the lady heard me and I told her that her dog had bitten and that it should be on a lead etc etc, it all escalated I wasn't at all rude but the things she called me were so horrible and about my dogs breed and that I shouldn't be in a park he'll attack a child (he lives with 3) it was so awful I've never been spoked to so aggresively in my life and can't stop crying and shaking.
I told her I was reporting her to the dog warden and she said as my dog had barked at hers that he was aggressive and she was reporting me and my friend.
I am being so stupid but I keep thinking that someone is going to take my dog away, I know they can't he hasn't done anything.
Anyway sorry to go on but family & friends don't quite understand how I feel and I know you guys always help xx

I know how you feel, ive been there so many times, it makes you feel so cr#p and then you keep playing it over in your head about what you could have said etc etc. The point is that your dog was on a lead it was her dog that approached yours, no one will take your dog away. Why dont you give the dog warden a call and say what has happened, this lady might even be known to them if its happened before.
Hit goal weight back in May .... could still do with losing a bit more though !!

Ah you have every right to be upset and angry, YOU were the responsible one, your dog was on a lead, some people are so horrible, i have had the same sometimes, and it really freaked me to take mine out the next day, dont let this ignorant rude woman spoil your walks. No one will take your dog away he has done nothing wrong, chin up, x

> she said as my dog had barked at hers that he was aggressive and she was reporting me and my friend.
She is a bully and is relying on the fact you will worry about your dogs own actions (the fact it barked) so you wont want to get the dog warden involved.
Please report the woman, bullies need stamping out. All dogs can have the odd scuffle, it doesn't make them bad, but when they are in the hands of people that will not take any responsibility or even appoligise out of politeness, it's a poor job

I can understand why you feel so upset, but form the outside looking in, you have no need to be

> I wasn't at all rude but the things she called me were so horrible
I would report her to the police for being offensive and intimidating.
current weight 145lbs
goal weight 140lbs

I would report her for not having her dog under control in a public place!!!
Once again can I suggest folk carry their mobile phones with camera.
In this scenario I would tell the 'person' that it was their dog which attacked and I had video proof....it sends them packing double quick.
I know this doesn't help in this case and you are understandably upset....but you will feel vulnerable next time out and this will help.
Try to put this behind you and enjoy your dog...the world is full of idiots....... we dog owners just have to cope with them.
You did nothing wrong. ((((Hug))))
Unfortunatley, you had the classic cowardly behaviour of someone being in the wrong and transfering that back to you. It is a cowards way out. And quite rightly as others have advised not worth getting upset about, otherwise her ploy worked.
See her for what she is and report her and her dog and hold your head up hon.
thank you all for your lovely replies, i've stopped crying now and calmed down I did try to speak to the dog warden which was very hard work getting through but the lady I spoke to told me I should contact the police as I'd been threatened.
I think what i'm already worrying about is that I might bump into said lady again going to change times I walk and routes for a while I know this is cowardly but really can't face bumping into her again, just glad I had my friend with me and I know I really need to toughen up and stop being such a softie, thank again all knew I could rely on you x

How dare she have a go at you when HER dog made an unprovoked attack!!! No way can she have anything done to your dog under the DDA, your dog was on lead and hers was not. If anything you should be reporting her dog!!
> going to change times I walk and routes for a while I know this is cowardly but really can't face bumping into her again,
It's not cowardly atall, it's very sensible to change times/routes to avoid problem dogs and problem people

Im just the same, i,d rather walk away than have an argument with someone.
Sorry you have had a bad day, hugz to you.

Some people are such eejits.
Ive lost count of the times ive been in a similar situation. My dogs aren't bothered by other dogs, and generlly just walk past unless the other dogs initate play or just have a sniff. They will however stick up for themselves if they are started upon.
Since moving house our walks have changed, therfore the dogs we meet have too. We've been here a month and ive already had two rows with other owners about thier aggressive dogs. Im probably becoming known as the crazy irish lady. . . . .oh well.
Thier dogs are never in the wrong though, some people's ignorance really does amaze me.
Dont get too upset about the situation, theres no way your dog will be taken off you.
Open a bottle of wine tonight, and try and forget about it.

you can go to the police they will log it incase it happens again
i had the same in nov his man never put his dog on the lead up the tack both mine are on the lead, twice we both had big agruments and it was his fault so i went to the police liucky have a village station open odd told them what happen twice they give me a contact number to ring if the sisutation carriers on,
then i saw this man i told him what i have done,?
i react the same way you do over any unpleasantness, and i bet im a ton older than you,it doesnt seem to get better with age!you and your dog did nothing wrong at all,in fact you were the responsible one.Idont know why some people have to be so nasty.
>>you can go to the police they will log it incase it happens again<<
We have done this before. Had an idiot who's dog slipped the lead and started on our dogs (who were onlead). Idiot owner got all abusive when told to get his dog back on lead. OH wanted to report it to police as he was so mad at the owners behaviour and the threats he made but I said it wasnt worth it as they wouldnt do anything about it as there were no witnesses plus as we own staffords we would probably be the ones blamed.... well the police actually surprised me as they took it seriously and even came out to visit us and promised to talk to the owner as they had an idea who it was from the description. Don't know if they did, but fair play to them for taking it seriously

Yes I can sympathise from first hand experience too. The fellow whose dog attacked mine - exactly the same, mine on lead growled at the other dog off the lead because she was worried about it and got attacked. Fellow who had called me on past him (it was very close to the road) saying it was alright gave me a serious mouthful when I pointed out that HE called me on and HIS dog was off the lead. My dog was the aggressive one and it was all my fault he said amongst many other unrepeatable things. I was so very very upset - but the guy was in the wrong and he knew it - it got more complicated when another guy who wanted very much to be best mates with the first tough guy started on me too without any reason. I had two bullies at once.
I have been able to hold my head up high since with my dog being well behaved off lead with all the other dogs we meet (Ok except for one other aggressive dog with another unsociable owner) and the first bully I have since found is disliked by everyone because his dog has been known to go in for the attack before. The second bully reigns his dog in towards him and panics every time he sees mine off the lead - I have stopped putting Meg on the lead now because she totally ignores his dog - he just has a few problems. This is what happens when people can't cope with the dogs they have - they make it your fault and attack you to make themselves feel better. Rise above it and I hope your dog has no long lasting effect from the attack.
