My dog insured with M&S for the last four years, no claims  to speak of none at all in the last 2 years just had the renewal through gone up 250.00 for the year to 633.00....how can they justify that..spoke to customer services all the usual rubbish vet's fee, dog, age, male. I think will call it a day on this silly waste of money!!

I know exactly what you mean - I'm with M & S for two of mine and they really hiked the price up this year.  I'm thinking of self insuring, but you can guarantee that as soon as I cancel with M&S, one of them will get something expensive!!
Meine Meinung steht fest, BITTE verwirren Sie mich nicht mit Tatsachen.

Try animal friends, we use them and they are very good.

I left M&S for my 4 last year after a big hike. Went to sainsbury and despite youngerst having both a major knee op and a sock retrieval premium has gone down.
Not only that but first 3 months of new policy have been free!!
Well impressed.

Oooh, sorry going to hijack a little bit.  I'm with Morethan, and all cheaper quotes I've found haven't been 'lifetime cover', ie you have 12 months after the illness first presents itself to get all the treatment done and it won't be covered after that (that's how the vet explained it anyway).  Do you know if the Sainsbury's one is lifetime?  Just scanned through the policy, and I think it is, but may be missing something.  It's definitely cheaper than more than!!

Have been getting quotes online, but I know a bit about insurance and some of the tricks they use to get out of paying up ..but think will keep looking but not at such comprehensive cover something more bog standard,

I hate this subject and dread the renewals i am with more than and pay £53.00 pm for two cats and two dogs I of each are pedigrees. However wont take the chance to self insure as have just totted up the last 4 months bills as £2500 !!

I haven't paid all that but that was 6 different incidents £50 0r £70 excess each time plus 10% in the case of an ongoing claim for a broken leg.

Goodness knows what my animals have been up to this year 4 of the claims being accidents. Fortunately the vet knows me well (she would do by now Lol) and it has been really bad luck or I may be under scruitiny by the rspca or something.!

Sorry seemed to hijacked the thread sorry

Find the AXA site and get a quote, mine went DOWN from £164 1st year to £158 2nd year for top level lifetime cover after claims for about £1k in first year.

With the higher premium it is an amount per condition for life, £7.5K if I remember correctly. Don't have documents on me but their website would give more details.

Thanks, that's how I understood it, but I'm really not very good at these things.  Guess I'll be changing to Sainsbury's at renewal time!  Thanks for the recommendation :-D
