I have an ex-racing greyhound he is 10 years old and has lived with us for 6 years and when he first came to us we were told to feed him on wafcol and minced meat so this is what he has been fed on up until about september last year as his feaces were like liquid so we took him to the vets and they done some tests which all came back fine and they also gave him some pro kolin and gave us royal canin sensitivity diet for him which we fed him they said once the food was finished to go back to feeding him his normal food so this is what we did, however this made no different and his feaces stayed the same so we decided to change his food so i thought james wellbeloved might be a good one to try we are now here and nothing has changed apart from he is looking very thin and he doesn't finish all his food apart from the other day when i added water with it so i think he probably finds it difficult to do all that chewing but the vets said to give him kibble cause its better for his teeth but the next day his feaces were even worse, i am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on maybe what might be a good food for him or any other suggestions in general that may help??
Thanks Rachel

Rachel. I have had similar problems with our two which then developed into colitis. Have tried many many brands over the years that worked for a time and then the intolerance returns. Nature diet they enjoyed but found with two large dogs - expensive - they now are fed 'Robbies'  they love it and finger crossed have gone for two years with no re occurrence. If there is a problem it is normally due that they to eat rubbish when out on walks. Good luck.

My old dog had bouts of colitis when younger and was advised by vet to put him on cheap and cheery Chappie complete which I did and this kept it under control. I had to change to tins of Chappie after he had a larengal tie back op when he was 11 and he was fine on this to.
The Flattie way is the fun way!

thanks for both of your advice, what is colitis?

>what is colitis?

Colitis is inflammation of the colon.

(Any condition ending with 'itis' is inflammation of that particular part, eg arthritis (joints), appendicitis (appendix), otitis (ear), dermatitis (skin) etc.)

Lots of mucus, sometimes blood, faeces can even looked wrapped like a sausage!. Have you thought of useing kaolin known again, saves a £££ vist to the vet.
