Has anyone had a relaxin test carried out on their bitches? Are they good?

I have a bitch who is behaving as if shes carrying. Had bile/sickness at about the third week for a few days, she seems greedier than usual (normally a very fussy eater) and for a slim bitch she seems to have filled out a little. Slight fattyness to the nipples, shes a maiden so not had any pups hanging of them before so they are still small and neat.

A scan has proven pretty much inconclusive, scanner couldnt be sure and didnt want to commit to a definate 'no'. There were no obvious 'golf balls' in there (this is at 36 days). She said maybe an odd pup in there if anything.
It didnt help that my bitch was being a wriggler! *rolls eyes*

So I thought Id get a test done to be sure. Want to know wether to start the worming regime and wether to let those on the waiting list know!

Any thoughts/experiences with this would be great. Thankyou! :-)

The relaxin blood test can be done after day 28, we had two scans thats showed nothing we also had all the signs you have had with your girl but we have decided just to keep an eye on her and if we think she has caught  will do the blood test then as she gets frightened in the vets!!
the test is very accurate though.
good luck

Used it a few times, it has been accurate for me with test done at approx 28 days. My vet now uses this as his test of choice for pregnancy diagnosis (doesn't scan any more) and if a client gets a negative test first time will offer second 7 days later to be sure.

How did you get on with the relaxin test?

My vets labs said they didnt do them and after a week of waiting the vet said she could track down the test itself and they would do it in-house, but as they dont get them in they'd have to see if they could just order a single one, etc etc.
So I said not to worry I'll just sit it out and rescan her if necessary the week before shes due.
As it is Im not so convinced now that she is pregnant. She may have 'caught' but reabsorbed them as she had all the early signs, including pretty regular sickness.

But such is life! Just the way things go sometimes. :-)
