I am mixed up:

I have entered my two girls at breed Open Show on Sunday. I have entered Pixie in MPB and Tuppence in JB.

I also decided to enter Brace as I thought it would be fun.

My question is should either girl win their class (one can but hope!) and then be beaten in Brace are they then ineligible for the challenge?
Also as a one breed show does Brace count as a breed class or could I withdraw from Brace if this was to happen?

I will go back to entering just one class per dog after this - I just hadn't thought it through and was getting adventurous.

Brace appears to be last class of the day. It says in schedule " For two exhibits(either sex or mixed) of one breed belonging to the same exhibitor, each exhibit having been entered in some class other then Brace or Team"

I can't see anything about ability to withdraw

No need to withdraw. All awards are given before Brace...

The award for Brace is for the two dogs as a whole, even the CC winner could take last place if it is paired with a substandard (sorry :-) ) dog... people take Brace quite seriously, but it is a bit of fun (anyone seen me in Brace will think it hillarious :-p )

Slight hijack, but I sometimes do brace at companion shows (my two are different colours though similarly marked) and I always used to use a brace chain, but I've heard this has gone out and people use 2 leads now, is that right?

I have a show lead which was made for brace. It is identical to my single show lead only collar is attached to lead by a tiny clip and then additional collars can be added. The clip is not obvious. I have never yet used it in the ring although I have put it on for walks.

I think it may depend on the breed concerned.. for small dogs it may be acceptable, in my breed it is not acceptable to have a brace chain,or any sort of collar and lead and are shown on individual loose slip leads, .. partly the idea of showing dogs in brace, is to show control as well as conformation, a bracing link defeats that object..

It is quite easy to show brace, you are doing exactly the same thing as you would a single dog,  (says she whos dogs went off in different directions in one brace, and rode piggy back in another eek :-p  )

They are toy dogs.... And yes, Kayc, I have done a few brace classes hissing 'Henry, get off her!!!' all the way round! :-p

Being beaten in Brace, Team, stud dog brood bitch etc, doesn't count as being beaten, as they are not beaten on their individual merits, but only as part of a group, or representing a group as a parent or offspring.
