My Fault :-o
I was cutting Zumas nails, he twitched and I just caught the quick. He is not bleeding like a stuck pig, I have smothered it with veterinary wound powder. Any suggestions of anything else I might have in the house at this time of evening that may work better.
Thanks in advance
Chris

If all else fails, in an emergency you can pop the paw in a saucer of flour.  But the powder should suffice.  It won't bleed for long.  You always feel awful when you do it, don't you?

I once had a dog in for a booster, and one of the new vets cut his nails.  He made one bleed, and said I am so embarrassed!  Happens to the best of us!  :-)
The hurrier I go - the behinder I get!

Top tip

Keep a bar of  soap ( here I have it in a plastic bag to keep it moist - under my sink ) then just scrape the nail down the soap and it will stop instantly...never fails.

Its the sodium hydroxide in real soap which clots blood.

post should have said 'he is NOW bleeding' etc
Thanks for suggestions
3rd application of wound powder seems to have worked, got a tub I have had for years but I can't see it would have gone off.
I have intended to get a styptic stick for ages and not got round to it, I MUST do it, bit more incentive now having been hands and knees round 2 rooms and down the hall mopping splodges of blood of floor and carpet !

Cornflour good too, or if you have a caustic pen.
