hi im wondering if any body has tried nutri drops. As ive got a litter of pups and 3 are very slow and have fallen behind their litter siblings with regards to gaining weight etc. Ive been advised to try nutri drops as they are very good. If anyone has tried them id love to know if they were good etc.  i have ordered some from the internet and thinks this will be my last chance to get these puppies on the right road to surviving. Im feeding them my self at the moment but 1 of them will suck from mum but the other 2 wont as i feel they are to weak to.

I always have a bottle in my whelping kit - one of the many things in the tin that I wouldn't be without.

I hand reared 4 puppies in my last litter ....dont give up ...are you using baby bottles, I use newborn baby bottles from boots the teats seem to be just right.

thanks for your encouragement. i have toy breed so how big or small a teat would you reccomend. two of the pups dont want to suck maybe because they are weak, would you think the nutridrops would make them stronger. i have been told to buy the catac feeders are they any good.

depending on thier age and size you could use a dropper . I used the newborn baby bottles that is the smallest teat you can get i think..if you look on the internet you will find pictures of the correct way to hold a pup to hand rear .

If you know a breeder who can tube feed or get your vet to show you how to do it it is probably one of the best ways to hand rear esp: if not suckling well.
Have you had them  checked for cleft palate?

never used catac feeders..someone surely will have I am sure they will be along soon.

If they don't want to suckle or find it hard , try giving them the milk from a syringe a drop at a time.
I've hand reared two litters with a syringe.

I have toy breeds.  And I think I own every type of feeder on the planet!  From expensive to simple syringe.

It took a long time to find the right one for teeny mouths.  It was cheap and cheerful Sherleys ( as in Sherleys Lactol) and they are only a couple of pounds from Pets at Home.  Once I found that the tiny teats were just the job, I bought myself 4 boxes!  I sterilise the teats and bottles, so always have free clean ones available.

While I appreciate that they wouldn't be any good for larger animals, they are just the job for my pups. 

glad you came on-line JeanSW as my breed as you know arent normally born that tiny so what is suitable for mine wouldn't be for a toy breed.

I have a travel steriliser from tesco baby dept cost £5 just big enough for a couple of bottles and teats.

If your close to the Midlands I would be happy to show you how to tube feed if it helps.
I also have some feeding bottles and teats that are cat ones from royal canin,I could pop one in the post
for you to try.
