Hi there just a quick question.

Can someone list the safe fruits and veg to give to my pug? Or maybe it would be easier listing what he cant have? Im aware he shouldnt have seeds or onions.

I gave my niece fresh pinapple the other day and came through to the livving room to find him chomping on a large peice of pinapple!! He seemed to adore it, maybe it was nice on his ghums as hes teething?

also is peanut butter ok? i used to give ti in his kong but stopped it as it seemed to come out his other end as quick as it went in his top end!

FOODS
Avocado including avocado fruit and guacamole dip made from it.
Chocolate, the darker - the more theobromine. Grapes, Onions, Macadamia nuts

THINGS DOGS CAN EAT
Apples, Pears, Peaches/Apricots - NOT the Stone, Bananas, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries

VEG
Beans, Peas, Carrots, Parsnip, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Spinach, Broccoli, Swede, Turnip. All Veg should be lightly cooked OR steamed OR put thru blender for dog to properly digest them. Good to fill up hungry dog if you are reducing weight!

OK to add as occasional extras to feed. Oily Fish - check for Bones, Tin sardines - in oil not sauce, Raw Egg, Scrambled egg

Bramble will eat raspberries off the bushes when we are walking in late summer - but not brambles (blackberries) funnily enough

Raisins are very bad too (just in case anyone doesn't link them to grapes )

I think pineapple should be fine, as it is often recommended to be added to the diet to stop "poo eating".

Its not a full list, I put it together - along with a whole raft of other NOT TO EAT things from various sources to take to class as I have a bunch of first time owners who didn't have a clue. They all got a print-off to stick on their fridge

Tadsy. Does pineapple stop them eating their own or others poo? Our two hounds don't eat their own but every so often will eat others especialy fox/badger. Any ideas?

Their own. I don't know how it works, I would imagine it's not as appealing 2nd time around - although to our minds neither is what they're eating. One of my girls thinks cat/fox dirt is a delicacy. It's got to the stage that I won't now put my hand in her mouth to retrieve anything, i tend to hold the jaw and shake her head hoping that whatever it is drops out.

Unsweetened dried cranberries are good as well (you can get some that are sweetened with pineapple juice). So are pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds (use them in ground form though to avoid choking)

Sorry, but I think you're on a no win situation when it comes to fox/badger poo Yum, yum - my dogs not only love to throw themselves in it but they love to eat it too, given the opportunity. However, pineapple, pumpkin seeds and courgettes are supposed to stop dogs eating dog poo. Have to say it didn't work for my youngster
