Hi,
can anyone offer any advice please - we have adopted a 2 year old miniature daschund who may have been kept in a shed with other dogs. She had pups about 3 months ago after being " rescued " but then no longer wanted. She will only go to the toilet on paper at the door no matter how long she is outside. We are persevering and taking her out about every hour etc. Also she will not sleep at night - we have tried all the usual - small light & radio on, bought a cage & brought her upstairs at night but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

If she will go on paper by the door I would try putting some just outside the door and see if she will go on that. If she will go on paper inside she may do outside, you can then work on moving it further into the garden and reducing the size of the paper. You are doing the right thing taking her outside every hour I'm just thinking if you took her paper out too she may get the idea. Lots of praise when she does!
I have no ideas to help her settle at night I'm afraid as all mine are good sleepers :-)
More dogs please
