I have a bitch which was mated 16 days ago on day 19 and 21 of her season (did bloods). On her walk this morning I noticed she was weeing a lot and there was some blood.

She has had cystitis before and the signs are the same. I have her booked in at the vets in a few hours but was wondering if anyone had come across this before in a mated bitch, Im a bit concerned. Everything was looking positive (vulva still swollen, very clingy etc).

She has been given Clavaseptin 250mg. The vet said these were safe during pregnancy but when Ive googled it all I can find is it hasnt been proved to be safe.

Not sure what to do!

Some bitches sill bleed all through their seasons even after being mated, but if she hasn't done this before then its something else, it could be something really simple like the male was a little too big or too eager for her even if its the same breed. To be honest there is only so much advice that can be given the vet is the best place to ask.

Sorry I cant help with Clavaseptin as iv never used it before.

Hi, Ive used clavaseptin 50mg, the dose was 1 tablet twice a day for 5 days, for a bitch 2 weeks in whelp, she is a small breed 5kg. Seemed to be fine.
