Hi All,  My little toy poodle puppy is teething and some of the milk teeth has fallen out but in the top jaw her second set of teeth are now starting coming through (fronts mainly) but her milk teeth have not fallen out and doesnt look like they will at the moment.  I will be taking her to the vets to get it checked out.  But what is people's opinion on taking out teeth as she is only 6 months old.  Can I wait till she has had her first season and then get her spade and her teeth done if needed and micro chipped?  Just worried that it will be stressful and wanted your opinions!

Thanks!

It's usually the canine milk teeth that stay firmly attached, and if they're not out by 6 months they should really be removed because they can misalign the adult teeth, sometimes resulting in holes in the palate. If you're getting her spayed (not 'spade' ;-)) soon then they could probably wait until then to avoid two lots of anaesthetic.

Any milk teeth that haven't come out at 6 months, I get my vet to remove.  I see a gorgeous toy poodle around, totally spoiled because the owner wouldn't have milk teeth out.  One of the misaligned permanent teeth now sticks out permanently, and the mouth can't close properly.

worth giving her nice raw meaty bone to chew and see if she can shift them on her own. : )

I had the same thing with one of my toy poodles the vet had to remove about 8 teeth after the adult ones came through including the top 2 front teeth as they didn't loosen at all but he is now 3 and a half and his teeth are absolutely fine. By the way are you the lady who bought from Mrs Riddett if so you will be pleased to hear that Wightwonder Rosie Glow won a first at crufts yesterday best veteran bitch.I think this was your pups mum if I remember correctly. I always check the toy poodle results at crufts as my two poodles also came from Mrs Riddett.

Hi, Yeah I am, Rosie is her mum!  I checked it up too as well. :-)  Thanks for the help.  I am giving her plenty of chews at the moment hoping that she can lose them on her own plus she is really enjoying chews at the moment as she is teething!.

If you give her raw bones as previously suggested and also raw chicken wings, this should help work the baby teeth out naturally. I have a brachycephalic breed and retained teeth would create havoc if left in. However Ive yet to have a problem with this, which I beleive is down to the raw bones/wings along side their various toys.
