How long after vaccinations can epilepsy be triggered? I must admit I don't know anything about the correlation between the 2 of these, but I know there could be a link between the 2. I have just heard that my Uncle's dog has been PTS from having an epileptic fit, when he previously has had no symptoms or fits before. I don't know when he was last vaccinated, but I could find out if anyone thought that the 2 were related. I know there are other causes of epilepsy, but I am just trying to find some answers for him and I couldn't think of any better place than here.

I can't answer the question regarding vaccinations and epilepsy.

But why was such a young dog PTS?  Epilepsy can be controlled by drugs.

The seizures made him blind and the vet couldnt say how much other damage had been done during the 2 seizures. He fitted for 30 minutes, came out of it then fitted again, don't know how long the second one was  but vet advised that he should be PTS

My dog developed epilespy aged 4 - was vaccinated as a pup and boostered at one year. I think it's a genetic link in my particular situation.

I would imagine it would be close to impossible to ever say that one dogs epilepsy was triggered by vaccs.

Sorry to hear about your uncle's dog. 30 minutes is a huge length of time to be seizing

My first Leo had epileptic fits that were tied to hormonal changes.
Started out of a blue when she was about 4 years old and never had one after being spayed.
Somebody had a look at her lines(who had an epileptic Leo too) and in our case it seems it was genetic...
The lady had collected pedigrees of quite a few epilectic Leos and all had common names in the pedigree but then most Leos do so not sure how genetic it really was!
With a Lurcher maybe one parent was BC, don't they have some epileptic lines?

30 minutes is very long time to fit I can see why the vet thought PTS is the kindest option even tho epilepsy can often be controlled by drugs.
