was i imagining it or in the live stream about the sar pei (sp) did peter pervis and the american say 'oh look-- not too many wrinkles on it thats good- its good that they have bred that out' !!!  now i dont know much about the breed but the adults arent supposed to be that wrinkly are they? its just the pups. how do these presenters think that breeders have bred out the wrinkles in 2 years after 'that' programme? madness. these presenters are rubbish and make damaging comments

Apparently they are supposed to have 3 wrinkles at the withers and 2 at the base of the tail. Not sure about the head

I do not know much about the breed but maybe they were not talking about that programme (and what has been done in 2 years) but that over the years breeders have started to breed dogs with less wrinkle? or at least the BOB chosen by the judge is not over wrinkled compared to some they have maybe seen?

Your correct Noora, the comentator said that the breeders in the UK had tried very hard since the first dogs came in from the States to correct the over wrinkling.

When the breed first became a fashion fad in the UK, about 20 years ago, there were awful health problems caused by indiscriminate breeding and excessive wrinkling.  The breed is much much better today

Still a lot that need tacking though, so we're not there yet.
Acquiring a dog may be the only opportunity a human ever has to choose a relative.

I thought the ones I saw at Crufts looked much less wrinkly than some of the ones that were bought by celebs a few years back :-)
