I know this is a bit of a silly question but... we have had several bitches and all of them were like ticking clocks with their seasons we always guessed within 3 days when they came into heat.

Sophie was due 2 and a half weeks ago and was due to go to the stud within the last 7 days however she still hasn't come into heat, Iv never had this before. I might get mum to take her to the vets to make sure there are no underlying problems, just for piece of mind, because up until now she has also been on time with her other seasons.

Do you think she is late or will miss completely?

For the sake of two and a half weeks I wouldn't be worrying.  What do you consider to be a normal length of time between seasons?  How long is a piece of string?

Not all bitches are totally predictable about intervals between seasons.  I always tell the booked stud dog owner when a bitch is expected, then confirm on first day of season that I will let them know when she is ready, but, like humans, they can vary.

I had one bitch that always went 6 months, then, when I wanted her mated, she went almost 9 months.  They do it to throw us! 

How often does a bitch come into season on the exact day you expect - hardly ever I would imagine.  We have had bitches due to come to ur stud dog since Oct/Nov and have both come into season within the past 10 days.
My own bitch came into season about a month earlier than planned and brought her sister in too who wasn't due until April!
Bitches - so unpredictable!!

In my breed at the moment the  bitches are leading their owners a merry dance. Ones that go every 6 months are 10 month to a year!! Maybe they know what's planned for them?

My bitch was very regular in her seasons and when she looked ready for mating. Last year we had just come back from Crufts and I spotted a tiny bit of blood, no bleeding or associated behaviour, she was 2 months early. I would have expected her to be ready day 13 but we took her on day 9 to see what happened, successful mating (on Mother's Day) and 4 pups followed.

They keep you on your toes!!!!

Dont worry about it, this is perfectly normal.. by my diary, 3 of my girls were due seasons around beginning of January. 2 of those girls have been in season for the last 2 weeks.. 2.5months late.  A girl who was coming to Hunter, was expected in season last September, She came to Hunter late December..

To be honest I think they must read our minds as I have had several bitches up to two months late with seasons, and usually when I have planned on mating them.

I have a feeling I am just worrying because we have been planning this for ages now and we were just starting to get excited. I honestly thought she would have come in because about 2 weeks ago our male dog and another bitch kept sniffing her and she got a bit funny with her back end, which she does with all her seasons. Your right though 2.5 weeks isnt that long.

My 3 girls were due in season, one in January, one in February and one in March! But, they have ALL decided to come into season NOW!!! :D its great fun!!

One of my friends bitches had first season at 6 months, then nothing since, she is 20 months old now!

See id be worrying if any of our bitches went 14 months between seasons and still no sign.

One of my girls had 1st season at 1yr, 2nd 10 months later, 3rd almost 8 months later. Now, awaiting a season with much excitement as failed to pup last mating ... we're currently at 7 months from last ... I really do hope she doesn't go back up to 10 months!! I can't stand the suspense any longer, and neither I think can the folk on my order book ...

Im glad im not waiting to take my girl to stud,she had her 1st season at 19months and nothing since and she is 3 1/2 now.

She may very well of had a dry season, but as she only has the one girl she can't be sure!

our girl had a season last may then nothing until February , just mated her and she has missed, God only knows when her next season will be, she has had 3 seasons in all and she is 2  1/2 years old, unusual for this bloodline of ours.

on the season side of things i have a young bitch who i was getting worried about not having any seasons and yet being 11 months,im sure i posted on here. Anyway i booked her in for a show and the moo came in season(rolleyes).
i know only too well theyre not always right on que,give your girl some time and good luck.x
