More antibiotics for Whistler but we may be getting somewhere, he had a little op to flush them last Monday. We have been on antibiotics since and now the swabs are back we need a stronger antibiotic. Hopefully this will clear things up and mean we do not have to have them removed.

I use probiotic fibre stuff with evey meal and I must say his body oder is much improved, in other words you cant smell him coming!!! sshh he didnt know he had b-m oder

Keep you fingers crossed we have finally got there, and we shall see what the insurance coughs up!

Sounds like a problem I had with Ellis last year, one gland was infected but what ever antibiotics we used we couldn't clear it up.  I really didn't want him operated on, what with him being epileptic, but the vet said it was the only choice we had.

He had the op, and we had him castrated at the same time and luckily everything has been just fine, we have not had any problems with him since the op, but I do know it does come with the risk of incontinence.

My vet said that his glands were buried deep inside and not just under the skin like most dogs, so he had to do a lot of digging around which caused Ellis to bleed from his bottom for about 3 days, but after that everything was good.

Fingers crossed for your boy that the antibiotics work, but if they don't and you do have to go down the road of an op, it's not always a bad ending.

Whistler seems to have an enlarged gland on one side only so fingers crossed. £1000 he is already castrated so at least its only one thing. It was the worry of incontienence that lead us to a "flush" first, so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Had same problem with my Golden retriever some years ago. After the 'flushing and packing' did not work I used Garlick and Feugreek from Dorwest, first on a treatment dose and then for maintenance. Worked perfectly and never had to have them emptied again. Hope all clears up for Whistler.

I have been using the dorwst stuff and it hasnt been that sucsessful but Im hoping!! He eats his tablets really well with cheese so at least thats easy!!
