Unfortunately on Monday I had to have my beautiful 8 year old coloured cob put to sleep. This came as a huge shock because she has been absolutely fine and has had no problems. My sister went to the field and found her gasping for breath and collapsing. We called the vet who didnt know what was wrong. They decided to put her to sleep to stop the pain. We realised later on her mum died one night when noone was there and the vet assumes there was an underlying heart condition.

I bred this mare and still have her dad who I ride regularly. I broke her in and we were just embarking on small cross poles and fillers. She was the bravest creature ever. So brave out hacking and would attempt any filler no matter how bright or scary it looked. We had had our first lesson in which she had to put up with a horse galloping up and down the side of the field but she carried on regardless. Im absolutely gutted she was taken away from me so soon. I think its harder when you breed them as you teach them and make them the horses they become. She was a gentle sole who everyone fell in love with.

RIP Magic - the most caring, beautiful mare on the planet. I will miss you tremendously and I hope your running through fields of lush grass with your mum waiting for the day I come to ride you once again. xx

Oh Tracey I'm so sorry, Magic sounds like she was a wonderful mare with a bright future, far too young to be taken from you.

I'm so very sorry - is that her, in your avatar? It must be so hard, having brought her up and been with her always.

Rest peacefully Magic.
